Singing and humming calms the Trikester down (even though I have a horrible voice). The issue is that I only know the words to Christmas carols. Silent Night was fine in December but I feel a little silly singing it now. Oh well! What's your favorite song to sing to your LO?

Hahahaha Silent Night is M's favorite too!! My other go tos are You Are My Sunshine, twinkle twinkle, abc's, wheels on the bus, rockaby baby, and itsy bitsy spider.

I sing sounds from different musicals that I love. My voice is pretty awful but it gets him to calm down most of the time.

Dang, you ladies know your childhood songs! I only know a few and I sing those all day long. Mainly itsy bitsy spider, wheels on the bus, twinkle twinkle and abc. Sometimes if I run out of songs, I'll sing the happy birthday song.

Even though I was in chorus throughout school, I still get embarrassed to sing to DD but I sing Twinkle Twinkle and then the alphabet (since they use the same melody).

ABCs
I sing a lot of classic and new kids songs, but ABCs are the ones we sing the most. Last night it was the only thing that would keep LO from screaming; pretty sure I sang it a hundred times. Sometimes I sing it in French or I say "let's do the letter sounds!" or I just hummm it. -
@Weagle: ohh forgot about Baby Baluga - I had the Rafi album memorized growing up, so I could totally tap into that.

I sing "If all the rain drops were lemon drops and gumdrops..." song, a lot of Beatles music (Blackbird, Elanor Rigby, Here Comes the Sun) and then I just make up silly songs for her. Lately I've been singing to her about being my little coconut because she smells soooo good from all the coconut oil I've been putting on her.

I just started singing another song to her--my friend told me about it--it's by the Olsen twins when they were little: Broccoli and Chocolate, so cute.

@Mrs. Tricycle: YouTube is great for learning the words to songs you know parts of...when I stayed home during my maternity leave I tried to add a song every few days so I didn't get bored. I also got cds of children's songs from the library and added them to itunes so we added to our song repertoire that way too.
LO loves the rubber ducky song from sesame street, which we learned by watching you tube, plus five green speckled frogs, frere jacques, c is for cookie. We also make up a lot of songs for her--spelling her name, talking about her and what she is doing. frere jacques is a great easy melody to use for that.

I love hearing about moms singing to teir LOs, so sweet! My mom sang to us until I was about three and looked at her and said, "Please Mommy, don't sing." Lol she still likes to remind me of that...she's a bit tone deaf
I plan to sing to my kids, hopefully they'll be more forgiving haha!
