When the whole family sits around the table together, what do you talk about? I'll tell stories from my (very boring) day and sometimes talk about something I heard on the news - good news, not political talk or bad news. If I tell a story from my day, I can typically get my 4 year old to tell us a story from hers.

We play a game called Rose, Thorn, Bud. You say something positive that happened, a challenge you are/did face and a bud is something that is good that you are looking forward to in the future or something that has just started with a possibility for good in the future.

We talk to LO about school and we all talk about plans for the next day.

We usually talk about our day and the latest thing Trump did. And DD asks 1,000 times if she can watch tv.

DD goes to bed before we eat dinner, so DH and I usually have a lot of conversations around "What did you think of that link I sent you?" Or he'll ask me what important/enraging news happened in the world today, since I pay more attention to that stuff.

I always ask "What is something kind you did today?" When the kids are a little older we'll probably do "High, low, high" which is what my sisters' families both do - a good thing, a hard thing, and another good thing - from everyone, even the adults.
Let's be real - I have a three year old and a baby. Right now dinner is primarily picking up food off the floor and convincing the three year old to stay in her seat.
