I have it and i love it. I get SOO much crap mail from retailers and online coupon sites so it's nice to have it all split up.

Tried it and hated it. If you go into the settings and uncheck all but the priority tab (I think - whichever one is at the top) it gives you your regular inbox back.

I didn't like it at first. But it's grown on me, I can ignore the promotions and social section and focus on the primary.

I like it!! I only use 3 tabs: Primary, Social, Promotions.
Since I use gmail for business purposes, I like that it keeps my Primary box more uncluttered, and keeps the other junk out of sight until I can deal with them. I like to keep my inbox at under 20 emails at all times, so this helps!

I couldn't stand them. I didn't like that when I got a new email under promotions it wouldn't come up on the right side of the screen that I had a new message in my inbox like it used to (Inbox (2)) If that makes an sense! I felt like I was missing things, so I turned it off!

I like it but I also wish that we could add categories. It would be nice to sort emails however I want but I do love that the promotions are gone from my primary feed.

I still haven't decided. I do like that I can ignore all my promotional/sales emails - I don't get notifications on my phone 8-bazillion times a day for them. But I also like to do as little clicking around as possible (you have no idea how much stupid repetitive clicking around I have to do for my job), so having to click between the tabs is a little annoying to me. In the end, I'll probably end up loving it, though!

I hate it! i turned it off, but then it added them separately on my gmail app on my phone, and turning it off on there was a bit of a pain. I can't understand how they couldn't figure out how to have the settings in one place...i mean if i didn't want it on my desktop, what are the chances I want it on my mobile device? don't most people want their inbox to be consistent?
For me, i don't get much promotional/junk mail, so when i do get something, it's something i actually want. i don't want to have to remember to check another folder to see what's there.

My inbox hasn't updated yet, but I love the idea. I'm sure like all the rest of Google's stuff, you're able to modify it or turn it off if you do not like it.

I also (and this is somewhat unrelated) have to say that I am really annoyed with the new gmail app. You can't bulk delete anymore! You have to individually open up each email to delete it. I get ridiculous emails and forwards from my MIL that I never open - I would just click the check boxes next to all of them and delete them, sight unseen. I can't do that now, and it frustrates me.

@littlebug: In the Gmail app, hit the menu button -> settings -> make sure that batch operations checkbox is checked.

I feel like this is what I use labels for... and for repetitive emails I know I don't need to see, I auto hide them. Why have two features that do the same thing??

How did you guys delete them? I couldn't figure it out in my settings. I have a VERY elaborate filing system for my emails so I don't like them trying to give me a new one!!!

@pui: Hmm...don't have that option. Maybe it's different on Android? Either way, I did discover that you can set it so you can swipe an email to delete it, so I turned that on. Thanks!

@kjpugs: In Settings, under the Inbox tab. There is a section for Categories. Just uncheck the ones you don't want!

@jillybean218: that's weird, I don't have a section under inbox for "categories." I have noticed messages being labeled "promotion" etc though. Maybe the worst of it still hasn't hit mine yet.

I hate it. But I'm definitely not their target audience. I only have 10 unread e-mails and I like to keep them all at the top of my mailbox as reminders. Everything else gets read and either deleted or categorized. I don't need gmail organizing my mail randomly for me.

Hate it!! I have my own way of organizing my emails, I don't need gmail to tell me how to do that. Turned it off immediately!

I really like it. I get 50-ish promotional emails a day and I really appreciate the fact that they no longer clutter up my inbox!

Hated it because I use my phone mostly and messages in tabs other than primary didn't push through on notifications. Thanks @Abbylyn I'm back to the old style and getting notified again

I love them so much! I have Gmail open all the time (how would I get through the work day without gchat??), so it is easy to see when a new email is in one of the other tabs. But I love that I only get a notification (beep) on my phone if it's a real (Primary) email that I likely actually need or want to read.

I didn't like it, mainly because I felt like some of my mail was getting lost in the tabs, and it was categorized inconsistently.
The way I have my current inbox is that I have my starred items up top, and the rest below... I prefer it this way.

I actually don't get any promotional emails to my gmail (use another account for that) so it hasn't impacted me at all.

Hate it. Seeing the unread makes me want to read it, but having it Ina separate tab is just an extra click to see what it is and to view it. I also didn't like the way it was categorizing things. User experience fail on google's part.
