Personally, I think parades are wasteful and inconvenient- just watching people walk by. DH likes them much more. He just told me that I am the only person (besides my entire family) who doesn't like parades. So...Hellobee, what do you think?

Aw I like them! Reminds me of my childhood. I can't wait to take my LO to them!

Depends on the parade and the crowd watching. I have fond memories of st Patrick day parades in my early 20s with friends. And recently I went to the world pride parade and it was just exciting to be within such a happy large crowd. Then on Canada Day I went to a suburb neighbourhood parade and it was incredibly boring.

Blargh. They are boooooooooring as an adult. Much more fun as a kiddo. In Seattle, however, we have a Solstice parade which in fun- naked bike riding:)

I agree, they can be a waste of time. I do not like standing around and waiting. But, yes they do seem like more fun for the little ones.

Okay, glad I'm not the only one. I feel like I just don't "get" it. Umm, stand there with a million people watching people go by? No thanks.

I liked them much more when I was little - the floats were really cool plus sometimes I knew the people on the floats? And they'd always give the kids candy. But as an adult... I don't know. I like watching the Thanksgiving Parade and the Rose Bowl Parade but that's about the extent of my interest. Local ones? Nope, not interested.

I don't really like going to them because I'm not a fan of crowds or challenging parking or being outside in crowds with nowhere clean to pee. But I"m not against other people partaking.

I looooved them when I was little. I remember making up parades with my neighborhood friends when we were really small, haha.
I didn't care about them from like age 10 to when my J turned 1. He loves them and now I think they're fun again

I like the Disney parades at disneyland and the rose parade..other than that. ..hit and miss but mostly boring

I think they're more for the people taking part - and their friends/family - than for the enjoyment of those watching. I like the build up - making your costume, decorating your float - that's what it's all about! I love the community spirit fostered by a good parade!

They aren't very exciting to me. In a few years I'll take the kids for their own experience and memories, but otherwise I don't bother to go.

We wouldn't plan to go to place for the parade unless someone we knew was in it. But if we were in town and one was starting, I might ask the DH if we could watch some of it. After a while, I would get bored.
I was part of the color guard and my friends were in the band so I would be interested in watch them go by.
My parents live on the parade route so if I was in town, I might watch it.

Only Mardi Gras parades because they throw beads and other stuff. Other than that, nope.

I think it depends on the parade and the participants but in general I'm a fan of parades! We have a four hr parade in my town for Independence Day.

I like Christmas parades because that is the only parade my town has and it's a huge childhood warm fuzzy. But other than that, I hate them. I've almost missed multiple flights out of large cities because of them. I once got stuck in the the middle of Atlanta because of another. They drive me nuts most of the time.

This is one area where I never matured past 7 years old. I LOVE parades.
In my mid 20s I'd have to make deals when I went to theme parks with DH or friends - that I could choose one parade to watch. Otherwise I'd watch them all day!

DH and I don't like parades either. We find them a huge waste of time. HOWEVER, I LOVE the Rose Parade on New Years morning. I watch it every year. The floats are displayed for a few days following the parade which are really neat to see up close.

The town I grew up in took 4th of July very seriously and the parade was amazing!! So paraded give me very find memories. I can't wait to bring my also some day.

I like the BIG ones.. Like PRIDE and Christmas parades. The dinky small town parades that consist of a tractor and someone walking their dog, I could do without.

Um, the 4th of July parade in my town had an Indiana Jones fan club complete with many people dressed up as various characters from all of the movies as well as other vehicles from the movies. I mean, not the actual ones but one like them. For this alone our parade rocked.
Otherwise, I probably wouldn't go to many parades if not for DS.

I don't like them. When I was a kid we had a short local parade I used to love and looked forward to every year, but I've never been a fan of huge hours long parades.

It depends on the parade! My town used to have the Lawn Chair Brigade in its 4th of July parade and they would march and do intricate "dances" with lawn chairs. That was always so much fun! But a lot of the other parts of the parade are sooooo boring.
I'll probably take Xander to a few when he's older, but it probably won't be an annual thing unless I find our local parade is all sorts of awesome.

I kind of hate parades, being in a marching band in high school ruined it for me (I marched in Tournament of Roses and it sucked).

I love them now that we have LO! We also have some great bands here, like a New Orleans-style jazz band that marches and produces some funk with brass instruments. (Love!) LO just loooves parades. Pre-LO I felt pretty out of place at the same parade however...

Depends on what kind of parade... and how much Ive had to drink.
I enjoyed our small 4th of July one we went to, just because C enjoyed it so much.

I'm neutral, I don't care for them too much but if could be fun/meaningful for the people in them!

@Reese: Ditt to the o.
We have a HUGE one that comes to the city once a year. It is FULL of native american princesses, cowgirls, cowboys, massive floats, even Will & Kate attended 2 years ago! This year, William Shatner is hosting it. Epic.

I love them but I think it stems from being in colorguard for so many years.

Disneyland Parade?! Amazing.
Any other parade - too boring (and brings up memories of being forced to march in them for Drill Team)
