I knew a woman named Holiday and when I first heard her name I was slightly taken aback but it really fit her! So I like it!

LOVE THEM!
you don't have to use them personally, professionally. and like any name, you can always change it if you really don't like it.

@Cole: I absolutely LOVE the name Holiday... but I am so afraid that my child would hate me for using it.
I once heard of a girl named Fiona Valentine and I thought it was the cutest thing EVER!
For some reason I feel super drawn to word/place/nature names.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: my neighbor gave their daughter the middle name "Darling" - I think it's cute!

Holiday reminds me of Billie Holiday. I actually like it!
But yeah, i have no problems with unconventional middles.

I think that middle names are added bonuses that can be just about anything. In my family they are typically nods to family members who we want to honor, but don't love their name enough to make it a first.

I know several children with Nature sounding middle names, we have friends with: Rain, River, Sky, Hunter, Shooter, Tracker, & lake.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I grew up with a Valentine and then she went by Valerie and finally just Val in HS.

Anything goes in the middle name. My LO's middle is a family name that's also a common adjective (like Noble). My mom always made me use my middle name but if my LO doesn't like it she doesn't have to use it.

@rachiecakes: Oh, that is so cute! When I was younger, I used to want to give my DD the middle name Honey.

Go for it! It's easier to use more unique names for middle names than first.
honeydew / 7586 posts
It also reminds me of Billie Holiday, which is kind if bluesy and cool.
I feel like it would be hard to pair it with a first name though.

I love that name. I do love unique middle names if they flow well with the whole name!

It is a little out there, but I like it! Would be interesting to see what first name it would be paired with.

I know someone that gave their son the middle name Danger so when he grows up he can say danger is my middle name
Eta: holiday sounds cute!

We entertained Glacier or Snow for middle names. Ultimately didn't work but I think you can get as funky as you want in a middle name!

I don't think Holiday is that unique. It's a surname in my extended family and could easily be used as a middle to pay respect to those relatives.

My husband wanted to give our daughter the middle name Hurricane.
That, or "Wait-For-It". Unfortunately, I vetoed both. But love the idea of unconventional middle names.

Middle name? Heck yeah! They don't have to use it professionally so in my opinion it's a go! We've considered Castle as a middle for a boy.

@redsmarties: DH was dead set on Danger as a middle name if we had a boy.

@rachiecakes: Darling is on my list of middle names for girls!
And I also think anything goes for middle names. It's a good place to add something unique and fun.

I love them as middle names for girls. For some reason, I'm not as crazy about them for boys, which seems silly, once I admit that outloud, lol

I love Juniper and Winter.. I am not feeling Holiday (but who cares what I think!) I say go for it! I would love to have a bad ass unique MN

@Dandelion: I totally agree! DH and I love non-traditional names for girls, especially for middle names.
But some reason on a boy, it just doesn't work the same! If we had a boy, he probably would have been Harvey Lawrence, which is pretty dang traditional!

@Reese: HAHA, growing up I HATED my middle name. My middle name is Robyn, and my brother always said that I was named after Robin Williams because I had hairy arms. Sounds so silly, but it really bothered me as an eight-year old!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: OMG i just LOL'd for real.. I believed my parents found me in a ditch by my house for YEARS before I finally had the guts to ask my parents! My brother was in BIG trouble.

I also love Juniper, Winter is nice too.
My brother once dated a girl called "Prudence Pineapple" - for reals. While she owned it, I think maybe her parents took it a little too far...

I like Juniper and Clover best of the ones you listed, but I like the others too! Holiday reminds me of Billie as well

I think you can go as far as you want to go with middle names! My kids have "normal" middle names but now I kind of wish they had something more fun!
