Obviously it's hard to say particulars without knowing them, but in general I think that's a great idea I'd certainly love to get it.

And they didn't get a deal. Because it's $70 for soup for four people. No one really thought it was really that special...and with something like soup, it's hard to bring the shipping price down to a manageable level.

I've gotten "soup" gifts from Wine Country Gift Baskets before and it was perfectly lovely. Sure, I had to heat it up and add water or milk to powdered soup, but it was probably a third of the price.

For people not nearby, I usually do gift baskets/bags from Wolferman's. Their products are exceptional, and you can usually do a full brunch for a family for around $50-60. Before I had to give up gluten, it was my absolute favorite thing to get.

That price seems outrageous for what you get. I'm all for food as a gift but a meal of soup for 4 for about $85???? That ladle had better be made out of gold.
