I desperately wish we had a Trader Joe's. I see so many cool products from there.
What about you?

More restaurants, Trader Joe's and indoor play center.

Chick-Fil-A (although technically we boycott), good Korean BBQ, Malaysian restaurant!

Uhh, LOTS of things. We don't have any good museums or arts centers, there are only a couple bars where post- college 20-somethings hang out, we have no Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or any organic food to really speak of. Healthy restaurants don't exist, and I would looove a good Indian restaurant.
I'm hoping that the current multipurpose commercial centers under construction right now bring a bit more urban flair to my town!)
ETA: Cheescake factory!!

More toddler activities! Like a gymboree/tumbling classes type of thing. Or even a toddler dropoff where you can pay a daily fee and drop your toddler off to play for a few hours while you run errands - that would be so helpful. Having more options of things to do with J would be great.

@locavore_mama: Basically move Flushing to wherever we are, without the crowds
I actually can't really complain about where I'm at! Between home & work I've got most stores I like. I do miss having Christmas Tree Shop close by though. The closest one is like 20-30 min away.
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
Panera bread (MY FAV)
More indoor activities for kids (museums, play areas, etc)
Goodlife fitness centre
IKEA
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
Costco...the nearest one is about 40 minutes away. There's a Sam's Club near us, but I like Costco way more.
nectarine / 2765 posts
@char54: No Panera?! *gasp* I'm quite the regular there
Whole Foods and Noodle & Company...both are coming but still a good year away, apparently. I'm impatient.
Eta: A Cinnabon!! I only get it when we're in airports...although, it's probably best for my bum that we don't have one.

H&M. But we are getting one soon!!
Ikea
West Elm
Potterybarn kids

@LMOG47: nearest panera is like 14 hours away
I dream about their cookies daily.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@char54: oh yes to IKEA! the nearest is an hour, so we have to make a special trip if we want to go there.
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Trader Joe's. I think the closest one is like an hour away.
Better ethnic food. I would love a good Thai or Japanese restaurant close-by. Food wise my town is very much like @Bookish: . Actually overall my town sounds a lot like her's!
More toddler activities (tumbling class/baby gym/children's museum). On that note, an aquarium and a proper zoo!
honeydew / 7811 posts
A whole foods, wegman's or trader joes. Any vegetarian restaurant. An IKEA closer than a three hour drive away.
pear / 1812 posts
@locavore_mama: why do you boycott? We don't have one (are they even in Canada?) so I'm not aware of any controversy.
pomegranate / 3053 posts
I miss a good hot pastrami sandwich! I would do anything for one right now!
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@Mrs. Pen: I LOVE ikea and am so jealous of all the cool furniture. The nearest one is 10hrs away (ha, I live in the middle of nowhere!) so whenever I do get to one I can't usually bring much back!

where I live now- nothing
where I'm moving- better selection of gyms. i wish an equinox or even a crunch would open!

I want a Trader Joe's. I mean, there's one near my job and one between my job and my house, but I want one near my house! Like, within a mile.
Thankyouverymuch.

@NurseMommy: We boycott Chik-fil-a too, because they are vocally anti-gay. I'd guess @locavore_mama: has similar reasons.
pear / 1879 posts
@char54: I'll be thinking of you-- that's where we are going today for lunch at work. Can I send you anything?!
We have quite a few of the "big" stores around us so I am not in major need of that. A few weeks ago I would have answered Nordstrom Rack, but I just found out we're getting one soon! What I would like, though, are a few more child-friendly museums. We have had an awful winter and it would be great to have more of a selection of museums/winter activities to do with LO.
GOLD / nectarine / 2884 posts
Whole foods and a Waldorf school! Oh and the BIG one... Target! No target for 40 minutes.
pear / 1812 posts
@ShootingStar: ah, I see. I will also boycott. Lol, not that there's any chance of me going to one anyway.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
Qdoba or chipotle that's within 10 minutes driving distance.
pomelo / 5509 posts
A Costco. We don't have one anywhere near us! And a Whole Foods, but supposedly we're getting one later this year.
Also, a diner or restaurant that served gluten free pancakes...
pear / 1837 posts
Trader Joe's, IKEA, H & M... although probably better for my wallet that there isn't!
bananas / 9628 posts
so many things! we have plenty of stuff around us, and we can drive a distance to my preferred stores, i just wish my preferred stores were closer. like we have BJs and sams club, but costco is kind of far (but i still have a membership there because i like them that much more!). i wish whole foods was closer, same with ikea, and krispy kreme (maybe it's for the best we don't have one near by....), market basket, and buy buy baby.
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@char54: Ahhh Panera. Yes, totally!
Trader Joes, Babies R Us, Gap (or any mall stores), Indian food, Really any ethnic food, Dunkin Donuts, Ikea, Chipotle, Aldi, Carrabbas, Chik Fil A (I decided I could unboycott them after they agreed to stop speaking publicly on gay issues), The Children's Place...
So many places!

@LMOG47: Do you have a Burger King? Ours sells the minibons!
We are lucky because most everything is nearby, but I do wish the Whole Foods was a little closer.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
H&M (one is coming 45 mintues away finally), IKEA, and I wish Wholes Food was closer to me, even though we finally have one in our city.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
So many things. I lived in LA for long enough to get used to having anything and everything I could ever want within a short distance and now I'm in a smaller town where options are limited to say the least.
TJ's. Panera Bread. Corner Bakery. Whole Foods. Nordstrom. Chipotle. Marshall's.
....just to name a few
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
A different -- I wish there were more baby-geared places: MyGym, Gymboree, etc. closer to our house.
honeydew / 7916 posts
Better takeout options! I feel pretty spoiled actually reading this thread.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
Trader Joe's.... I've never been to one but they sound like they have so much awesome stuff! À Cinnabon, à good Chinese takeaway place.
