Both want to be grandma, which is my preference/how I was raised.
I was talking to this lady who was getting her first grandchild in March and she kept referring to herself as "Mommaw" which soundedwayyyy too close to Mama in my opinion!
What's the name your mom and MIL have picked out?

They haven't told me! I know that DH's grandma wants to be Grammy. I don't know what A's grandma's want to be though.

My mum is grandma and MIL is gran. My grandmother is granny. I'm not a fan of the ones that sound like a version of mum.

Haha my SIL's girls call her mother "Mom-mom". Not positive how it came about, and she's okay with it now, but when it first started SIL grit her teeth about it a lot.
MIL expects to be called Nana (she is by our nephews) and FIL is Pops. My mom is undecided on what she'd actually want to be called, so for now when DS and I make videos for her I call her Grandma K (for Katie). She'd rather not be Granny but right now assumes that DS will give her a name. Her other grandchildren call her Grandma Katie.
My dad and stepmom sign cards to him Grandpa Jon and Grandma Connie, so they'll probably be that.

My MIL is Nana to my SIL's kids, so I guess she will probably stick to that. It makes me laugh to think what my Mum will be called... I'm sure it will take a while for them to adjust to being grandparents and feeling old!

My mum has always said she wants to be nan. That's what her mother was known as to her grandchildren and as she died when my mum was 15 its really important to my mum to carry it on. But - my MIL also wants to be nan and says she doesn't mind if they both go by the same title..... My mum, however, does mind and im scared to tell her!!!!

@Cherrybee: my SIL's kids call both their grandmas nana, they just add their surname or first name on the end so people know which one they are referring to. Could you do something like that?

Our LO is going to have some uniquely named grandparents.
MIL/FIL want to be Vavu and Vavo - FIL is Portuguese and these are the traditional name for Grandfather and Grandmother (and what DH and his sibs call their paternal grandparents).
My parents on the other hand, want nothing to do with traditional names. I was hoping they'd be Nanny and Grampie. But... Both are grandparents of mine who have passed away and their argument is that Nanny and Grampie are real people and they don't want to use those names??? Makes no sense to me. Right now my dad is saying he wants to be JT (his initials) and my mom has no ideas. I'm kind of bummed. I loved my grandparents dearly and their names have such happy memories associated with them.

My mom will be Nana, my dh's parents will be Apapa and Amama. That's grandma and grandpa in their language ( mom and dad are Ama and Apa).

My mom is already grandma to my niece, so we'll stick with that. My MIL apparently wants to be Nana, which is fine but will be so strange because I've never called anyone that before and neither has DH!

Just grandma for both. My dad likes to be called Papa, and both his grandchildren already call him that. Not sure what my FIL wants to be called.

My parents are mommaw and papaw. It doesn't bother me at all, but I had ~14 years to get used to it...my oldest nephew picked it out.
DH's parents are grandma/pa because that is what his nephew calls them, but LO tends to refer to them as mommaw and papaw as well.

My mom is Nini (my niece named her that, lol) and my Dad is Papa. My mil will be Grammy and my fil will be Grampy.
Unique names must run in our family because my grandmother was Bom, lol. My older sister named her that.

Both just wanted to be grandma! My grandmother wants to be called Gee Gee which is what we call her mom (my great grandmother.) So she goes by Gee Gee Shirley.

We don't have children yet, but we have nephews. So, mom is Mimi and my MIL is Sittie (she's lebanese).
