I see it a lot on here. I don't understand it. Are you agreeing with someone on what they said? Is this the new way of saying I agree with you?

@bpcmarj: well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who wonders this!!

I thought you were talking about party invitations for a second! I would think it means I agree with what you said.

I thought +1 means you liked what they said Kind of stealing it from facebook? I'm not sure if liking means agreeing.
But it probably does! hehe

@swedishfish: hahaha! Interesting, there's another +1!

My assumption is the origins came from 2nd-ing or 3rd-ing something when a lot of people comment or whatever at the same time, so yes it means agreeing.

On other forums I've been on, it's just a shorthand way of agreeing with a previous poster. I don't actually remember seeing it here as much as I have other places, but maybe I'm just desensitized to it!

@PurplePeony: I don't really go on many boards so I don't see much of these things. Also, I'm old so that probably explains my question, too.
@Raindrop: the Facebook thing makes sense, too. Facebook made us lazy with the like button!

I believe +1 comes from Google+, where instead of "liking" a status update, comment, picture, etc, you would hit the the "+1".
So essentially it's the same as "liking" what someone else said, agreeing with them, etc.

So basically it's people not taking the time to simply write "me too"? -1million

+1 to the pp's.
(am I really going to be the first person to do this?)

Yup.
Related... I've seen people respond with 'This'.
I think I actually had to google what 'This' meant a long time ago.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=This
One-word response placed after a quote on a message board as an affirmation of the author's agreement with the quoted person's view or opinion. Commonly used on Fark.com.
ETA: Because urban dictionary knows everything.... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=%2B1
1.) A post in a forum/message board that indicates the person agrees with a previous or quoted reply to a thread.
2.) Shorthand for "My thoughts exactly" or "me too".

@Nskillet: I don't mind abbrevations and when others use it.
Come on, we have abbrevations like DH, BFP, DTD, etc. [Insert HB abbrevations link here]
If you are TTC for a long time, it a pain in the ass to write out 'trying to conceive.'
I don't mind abbrevations. I don't, personally, use +1 or This. (I lied, I think I used 'this' at least once in my life but haven't used it since last year.)

There are about a thousand abbreviations used around here, what's one more?

People used +1 on Weddingbee all the time to indicate they agreed with someone. Basically just like 'ditto' or 'this exactly' or whatever. I just assumed people on HB knew what it meant since it was so common on WB.

As others have said, it means "I agree" or a similar sentiment. I have no idea where it originated... my guess is Reddit. (Do you know, @sunny:? I am curious now!).

@sunny: Oh, haha, I didn't know! I'd never heard of it before Google+!!
