They greet their favorite toys, play in their kitchen, look at books, build stuff, etc before dinner.

Lately he tells me he's hungry. I try to distract him with toys/activities while I cook dinner but if that doesn't work I might throw on an episode of Thomas the Train. He is going to be three next month. However, if I hear from daycare that he had a rough behavior day he does not get any screen time.

I don't do pick-up, so I usually get home to her trying to unlock the door for me and getting in trouble. Then hugs and kisses. Then she wants to tell me about her day. If I'm making dinner that night (which is the usual) she comes in the kitchen with me to play with our Scrabble letter magnets while I cook. She "spells" words, apparently MML spells Mommy.
If I'm not cooking then we sit on the couch and read or watch some music videos or do some other kind of activity. She's really into Beat It right now.

She wants to chill and watch Mickey and eat right away. She never wants to play right away.

She always want to play with our kitten then read books. DH and I usually take turns reading to her until dinnertime because she likes for us to read the same books over and over and it drives me a little crazy!

He hasn't napped there so is tired and whiny and usually wants to have a snack and watch a show. He is allowed one and then it's time to play or help me cook.

My 4 year old usually wants to watch a show and relax. I work at her preschool & I know they usually have an action packed day, so I'm ok with a show after school while my husband and I get dinner ready & talk

Runs into the playroom, dumps a bunch of cars on the floor, starts building his train tracks.
Sometimes he'll play in his bedroom, depends on his mood.
