We sometimes drive to scenic locations so DH can bird watch, I can take pictures, and DD can explore. It's only fun when the weather's nice though. For now, we normally just take a walk and feed the ducks. We recently discovered a sweet little playground that's toddler sized that overlooks docks with a bunch of birds, there's even a cafe nearby with picnic tables. I can not wait until spring!

@SugarplumsMom: Yes, feeding the ducks, throwing rocks in a stream, walking around too!
I've taken him to Mc Donalds' play places, bought a coffee and watched him go down the slide.
Also stuff in the house, like playing with play dough, stickers, etc. It changes constantly.

Every Saturday we go to the morning fruit/vege market and swim in the afternoon as a family.
Then we try to do one other activity together on a Sunday such as a bush/beach walk, visit our extended family, meet up with friends with kids at the park etc.
LO is only 6 months so we only do activities where he can be in the backpack or stroller or held by us. Cant wait for him to be older then we can start doing other things with him!

Shopping (or window shopping), eating out, children's museum, library, duck pond to feed ducks, buy cat/dog food to bring to animals at the shelter (LO loves this activity - she says "help kitty!"), go visit grandparents, go for walks, play in the yard, make arts and crafts, have a dance party.

Children's museum. Walks around the neighborhood, walks through the mall, grocery shopping. Haha.

We live in a beautiful area, so we tend to go on a lot of walks. We go to the farmers market every Sunday morning, and occasionally grab brunch or coffee, afterwards. DD loves books, so we often visit the library or local bookshop. We window shop, run errands, pack picnics to eat on the beach or at the park, and will sometimes visit a family friendly museum. Next month, we are going to the aquarium. We also tend to visit with family or friends for dinner or board games.

Lately, we go to a Conservatory and play among the soil pit and other plants. We also go to Target and sometimes the mall. LO likes the snow outside too, so we get him some outside time if it's not too cold out.

@SugarplumsMom: Feeding the ducks! Genius!
@deerylou: I love the aquarium! Do you think your LO will get something out of it at her age? I'd love to take DD but I keep worrying that she wont be interested!

@Cherrybee: We have a great aquarium nearby that's running a promo for free admission for locals during a particular week, next month. If we had to pay admission (which is ~$45, per adult, yeesh), we would wait until she's a little older. However, I take DD to a pet supply store occasionally, and she *loves* looking at the fish tanks - blows raspberries and squeals when they swim by. I think she'll likely fall asleep about halfway through, but may enjoy it a little bit!

@Cherrybee: We took M to the aquarium for the first time around 7 months. I think she enjoyed it - she really liked looking at the huge tanks filled with sharks and big fish and things. We still need to take her to the zoo but maybe when the weather's a bit warmer.

Feed ducks, walk in the park, go to the zoo, go to the library. C loves anything with animals.

Go on walks, to the zoo, aquarium, science center, out to eat/shopping. LO loves being outside and people watching so he is happy whenever we leave the house and go some place new.

@Cherrybee: I hate to be debby downer but once you go back to work, your weekends will be even MORE filled with grocery shopping and getting things done around the house. We usually have time for one family activity during each weekend, and sometimes it's just a walk around the neighborhood : (

@MamaMoose: Sob, sob, sob. I really hope it doesn't work out completely that way for us. It's why I'm devising a routine which involves getting things done each evening after DD goes to bed, in the hope that we can have at least one day together as a family.

LO is almost 8 months, so our activities are more about us still, but fun for her too (I hope!): farmer's market, going out to lunch/brunch, museums/galleries, walks, and trips to parks/outdoors spaces...

Right now it's cold, so a lot of it is playing house/kitchen, coloring, playing airplane, ect. at home. We do go shopping, children's museum, and indoor playground too, but she's a little small for those.
This summer I can't wait to go to the zoo, swimming, walks, playing in the park, walking to the local ice cream stand, ect. It's hard we try to fill our weekends with as much fun as possible!

DS does a lot of outside playing with daddy since its dark and cold by the time my DH gets home on weekdays. We usually go out to breakfast together on Saturday, take walks to the park to play, window shop of go to the zoo!

@Cherrybee: My LO was mesmerized by the aquarium and she's even younger than your LO!

Zoo, library, going for walks at local parks. I also search for events each weekend that would work for a baby.

We go out every Friday for happy hour. We have a local bar that is kid friendly (well, kid tolerant) and we go out with the kiddos every week. It's fun, and it's helping them get used to being out at restaurants.
ETA: We do other things, obv, but that's one of my favorites because it makes us feel normal and the kids really seem to enjoy it.

@lawbee11: Oh my goodness!!! Bless her!!! I'm really excited now, I can't wait to take her!! I'm not sure DH will be too keen though because it's £20 per adult and 30 miles away. Oh well, I don't care!!
