Baby #2 is due in just over 2 months! Hard to believe. Expecting a boy this time, but besides a few new clothing items we haven't purchased anything for this baby. This is likely our last baby so I'm reluctant to spend a ton a money on gear. A nice sling and a comfier rocking chair is on my wish list but who knows if that will come to fruition.
What gear did you invest in knowing it would maybe only get one baby worth of use?

I invested in a good carrier for being out and about with both kids--we just had a Moby the first time. So I got a Lillebaby and I love it so far!
We also got a rock n play which we did not have for LO1. It has been great to have a place to put baby while we eat dinner or whatever and we are using it for naps. I plan to resell it or hand it down when LO outgrows it.

I did invest in a better carrier (used) since I knew I would need hands with a toddler. Otherwise I replaced my A&A blankets and that was it. I just reused my gear from DD1!

I am getting two new carriers, and a new changing pad (the keekaroo). I also found a baby bjorn bouncer on a parenting listserve. Other than that, we're just reusing everything.

I got a co-sleeper for #2 and really wished I had it for #1 (with my 1st we used a p-n-p next to the bed)

I bought a new carrier and splurged on bedding and having some built-ins made for her room. We reused all of the other big items from LO #1.

I am having another girl...so like you I dont need much.
So far on my list for #2:
-Another Car Seat base (only had one with DD
-Bottle Warmer
-New Bottles
-Sound Machine (DD still uses hers)
-Another monitor camera
Those are kind of "necessities" for us. Bottle warmer aside.
My splurges are a new ring sling (have an Ergo I love, but the k'tan and bjorn I have I never took to) and an ottoman for my splurge rocker from DD. I did not buy the ottoman the first time around and bought a nursing stool instead - now I know I want the options to sleep in my rocker so the ottoman is a must!

We bought a Bugaboo 6 months before LO2 was due and used it a lot with LO1, who was over 2 when we got it. We also bought the Bjorn bouncer for LO2 (I gave away the previous one as we moved). I'm glad we splurged on both. I was able to recoup 70% of the cost of the bouncer when I sold it.

For nonexistent baby #2...
- new bedding, new mattress, room decor
- own set of A&A swaddles (LO will not let me share those)
- More cloth diapers (only if a boy, to phase out the super girly ones, otherwise their in great condition)
- Wet bags - ours are pretty shot
- Bottles, pacifiers
- Pump (I'll get one through Insurance)
- Structured carrier that both Hubs and I can use (I have a ktan for myself)
- Diaper bag

Glider/recliner. I did not buy one for LO1, we repurposed a rocker/recliner and I hated it. I received a really generous gift card from my co-workers that covered most of the cost of the chair. That's how I justified getting it this time. There wasn't anything "big" we needed.

Double stroller, mamaroo, and rnp were the big gear items we got. I also bought new towels, bibs, and burp cloths.

We got a new infant car seat and stroller caddy and an extra base because the one from lo1 is a spare for my mom now and I didn't LOVE it!
We additionally bought a marpac dohm and a&have swaddled because ds1 still uses these items! We bought and were gifted clothes and it's worked it well so far because they're opposite season babies in a very hot summer/Cold winter climate. All the other big gear we are reusing!

LO2 is a girl, but a lot of DS's newborn clothes were neutral so I hope to purchase a minimal amount of clothing in the first couple of months.
Other than that:
- glider (used CL purchased glider for DS and it broke)
- new baby tub (again, old one broke)
- 2nd pump through insurance
- new crib sheets/nursery decor (not really a need but a want)
@Mamaof2: we also used a pnp by the bed for DS1 and while he slept fine in it, I'm considering a cosleeper because it takes up less room. Why do you like it better?

@MoreCoffee: the co-sleeper sat up way higher - I could lay on my side and touch her to soothe her or pull her into bed with me to nurse
I had to sit up and move over and then reach down into the p-n-p to get DS , even using the bassinet portion of the p-n-p (I had a c/s so it really sucked!)

LO2 won't be here until the spring, but my list so far looks like this:
- Bottles, pacifiers, changing pad
- 2nd sound machine
- 2nd camera for monitor
- Co-sleeper or bassinet (our RnP was damaged, and we had a tough time transitioning out of it last time)
- Swing (was also damaged, may get mamaroo this time)
- Pump (insurance)
- Better carrier (didn't like k'tan or ergo last time)
- Clothes (we don't know sex yet, but they will be opposite seasons so I anticipate having to get new stuff either way)
We will probably wait to see if we want/need a double stroller. I am hoping to baby wear more this time.

Great question. I'm having another girl, though opposite season, so I should mostly be good with clothes. They will share a room and baby will get C's crib and bedding. So for this one I'm planning or hoping to buy:
Second sound machine for our bedroom, since baby will be in there for many months
Stand for the UB Vista bassinet (c slept in RnP then the crib. Hoping this works longer?)
Ring sling (used moby for C but would like a quicker option)
Rumble seat and buggy board for stroller (purchased on Craigslist already)
A&A blankets- C still sleeps with hers so I want baby to have her own.
New back pack to use as a diaper bag

@Corduroy: I guess that's true for me too! Just upgraded my student grade car I drove until it exploded earlier this summer. The extra hatchback room has been so nice!

We got a new chair for the nursery because I hated nursing in the one we already had and LO1 still likes to snuggle and read books in it. We also got a rnp because we didn't have one but I could have lived without it.

I have a boy and have a girl on the way..
Needs:
-swaddle blankets (son still uses his)
-rock n play (friend let us borrow.. Only will use if baby girl has hard time sleeping on a flat surface)
-rocker/glider (skipped w son bc of space and money.. We already had a couple wooden rocking chairs. I totally regret it!!!)
-some clothes (but thankfully receiving hand-me-downs)
-double stroller
-some disposable diapers and wipes (we use cloth 90% of the time)
-disposable nursing pads (usually use cloth but want some for the early days when I leak a lot)
-breastmilk freezer bags (didn't really pump w my son but just in case)
-crib and mattress (this is a maybe depending on when my son transitions out of his crib... She will sleep in the pack n play for probably at least 5-6 months)

We just had another girl so we are reusing most of DD1's stuff but we did get:
A baby monitor (yes, we didn't have one with #1 because we lived in a tiny one bedroom at the time)
A double stroller
A glider! (Also never got this with #1 due to space issues)
And then just a couple of cute outfits so she wouldn't completely be in hand me downs.

@LadyPantaloons: I currently do 80% of pick ups and drop offs. With #2 coming, DH will be doing more (all right away) of it...so I think it will just be easier to have two...plus then we can give one to a grandparent more easily!!!
