I think most of the time, people know she's a girl because she's usually wearing something fairly girly or has a bow on her head. Haha.. The other day an old lady said "Oh, how cute! Is it a boy or a girl?" I think that was the closest we've come to confusion over whether she's a girl or boy.

When they (b/g twins) were little it was "oh, two boys!" I think it was because A had a green and gray car seat. If it's not pink she must be a boy! Now I get "two girls?" because I wear my son in a pink Tula when I'm out with both kids. Can't ever really win!

When I dressed DS1 in red, I got girl comments. With my 6 week-old, I think everyone has said "what's his name" and assumed (correctly) that he is a boy. I think he has more masculine features for a baby than DS1.

Lots of people thought C was a boy. She always had hardly any hair and I didn't dress her super duper girly, so I didn't really take offense at all. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking, like when she is dressed really pink or whatever, but generally they are saying something like Oh he's so cute, so I just say thank you. Whatever.

It happens less as she's gotten older, I think her clothes are more girly.

I get lots of "oh he's adorable....he is a boy, right?"

I'd dress my daughter in PINK DRESSES with pig tails and people would call her a boy.
I dress my son in 'mommys little hunk' onesies and he's called a girl.

In all fairness DD was bald for the longest time with long hair she is no longer referred to as a boy. DS however has beautiful curls that I refuse to cut just yet!

Not so much now he's older, but my son used to often get mistaken for a girl. He has very long eyelashes, and I don't think the purple pushchair helped!

DS is almost 11 months and people mistake him for a girl on occasion. He has a ton of gorgeous hair so maybe that's why? I also put him in smocked outfits (though they're usually blue ones) but that's a fairly common style here in NC.

I never understood all the pink and bows for girls, and always assumed I'd dress my lo in lots of green and yellow- my two favourite colours.

But all the 'what a cute boy' comments do start to get to me and I find myself gravitating to pink so ppl don't mistak her for a boy!

Nope, but she is always wearing a bow and has her ears pierced. I never got that question with my son either.

We get half and half. A lot of her clothes are hand me downs from her boy cousins. People will still ask when she is wearing blue and a headband. I don't correct people or care.

Everyone said girl! He had long hair and he has a very pretty little face! He's 16 months and still gets called a girl sometimes!!

Both of our sons were born w a lot of hair that they never lost which I attribute the "girl" comments to; I think ppl just assume girls have hair. Ds2 is only two weeks old and we've heard it a couple times already.

@MrsRcCar: I also get the 'too pretty to be a boy' comment all the time. Apparently boys aren't allowed to have long eyelashes - those get cited a lot as a reason people assume he is a girl.

@wonderstruck: @Jess1483: I was out shopping with my boys and this older gentleman said: "I know she's dressed in big brothers hand me downs but she is just beautiful! " I was like "um nope both boys" he simply replied " well that's Jesus for you. "

@travellingbee: People are idiots with hair. I have a pixie cut but otherwise appear *very* feminine, and I've lost count of the number of times I've been called "sir."
