DH's coworker is due with #2 in August and has been at home on bed rest. She made a beautiful quilt for LO and I found out last night that as soon as DH returned from his short leave she quit after more than a decade! I liked her a lot. 
I'd like to send her a gift for baby that isn't too tacky or imposing but I don't think I could ever match the thoughtfulness of a handmade quilt. Was there anything you needed or really liked for LO#2?

Are you looking for a useful gift or a thoughtful gift? What about a lovey blanket for the new one? Swaddle blankets? Monogrammed paci clip?

Most of the things I want for #2 are fairly big ticket items (swing, Beco Gemini)... so I would go for either something personalized or something that will make her life easier (nice gift card to a good restaurant that delivers or a meal delivery service).

I would love meal delivery. I don't have 2 LO's but I was on modified bedrest during my last month and the meals we had delivered were the only non-Lean-Cuisine food we had for a month!

Do you know anything about her current LO and her baby on the way? For example, if I had a boy I'd be like OMG... I need boy clothes. Having a second I'd not want more of the little things (blankets, etc) unless they were things that are generally gender-specific and I was havnig a different sex baby. I would mostly want stuff like, new carseat, new stroller (maybe double depending on age of LO) etc. So if she registered somewhere maybe a gift card there... and then I do like the idea of a personalized item like a monogrammed bath towel, since she gave you such a personal item too.

I've been thinking that one thing baby #2 would need is lift the flap books. C has already ripped a couple, so I imagine by the time we have a second they will be in rough shape.
But the meal delivery, if that's an option, sounds even better.

I think new blankets are good, because usually baby #2 doesn't get a million (or any at all) like baby #1, and baby #1's blankets are old and washed and not soft and fluffy any more.
Or a couple new outfits since the mom might be tired of the boring old ones from baby #1
