We just went our separate ways over time. It's difficult to remain friends when you live far away from each other, get married, have kids, etc.
Once in a blue moon I'll get a text or email from one of them.. I usually keep my response short.

They've fizzled as we matured/moved onto different things in life.

I think most of those people just fizzled out. But one friendship ended very badly in high school when I said I wouldn't sleep with him. He would pass me in the hall way and call me all sorts of names that I'm not going to repeat here. And then I dated his brother.... not my best decision.

I have another friend who unfriended me on facebook when I told him that we should just be friends. I hadn't seen him in 10 years and when he saw that I broke up with my boyfriend he said he wanted to move here, which obviously freaked me out since we didn't even know each other as adults, but I did like him. He recently refriended me though to say congrats about LO, and he's actually considering moving here for a job soon.

@Rubies: I had that issue with an ex too. After we broke up he dated my best friend, which still didn't hurt our friendship. But then he dated another girl and all of a sudden he never talked to me, which was hard because our families are BFF's and always travel and do holidays together. But luckily she's out of the picture now and we're very friendly with his wife, and they have a baby a little older then LO so it's fun to get together with them. It was embarrassing at her bridal shower when I was introduced to her mom and her mom said, "oh, you're the ex girlfriend."

Mine also all fizzled out naturally as we moved away, got married, etc. I don't keep in touch with any ex boyfriends either, so all of the men in my life are friends husbands or DH's friends.

We are still good friends with one guy who had a big crush on me all through college, I was pretty in denial about it at the time until one of my friends said "uhhh you know he's in love with you, right?!". Awkward! We don't see him often, & I never see him without DH anyways but he is a good guy. DH knows, we just don't talk about it & I always bring up his gf or whoever he is dating at the time lol

I don't talk to ex-boyfriends or ex-crushes. Not because of any bad blood, it just hasn't worked out for us to be friends. I don't think I'd be ok with being "just friends" with someone I had feelings for. Though - DH had an unrequited crush on me for a year before we started dating...that worked out pretty well.
