The other swim suit thread got me wondering. what is the purpose of a rash guard, does it help little kids from getting too cold in the pool?

I thought it was mostly for sun protection (since it's not like toddlers are likely to be surfing in the ocean). So unnecessary but cute in an indoor pool, but better protection from the sun than sunscreen outside.

For little kids, it helps keep them covered from the sun. For older kids, it helps protect them from the water during active sports like boogey boarding, surfing, water skiing, etc...

It started with surfing. It protects your skin from the surf wax. (I think that's it.)

My kids wear them for sun protection, when they get older rashies are good when doing boogey boarding, etc.
