I got busted drinking at a party when I was 17. So I told my parents I was pregnant, and kept it up for a couple hours, until I said "just kidding....but I did get caught under age drinking."

My plan to lessen the shock backfired. Also, every day that my daughter's personality seems to mirror mine is a little terrifying to me.

Not one that I told but my sisters convinced me when I was little that I had a twin sister named Caroline that my mom sold off to an institute for testing in Texas. Somehow, my parents didn't pick up on this because it went on for a while. Then one day they told me she passed away and my parents found out because I was a mess.

How horrible is that?!

@chopsuey: I told everyone that my mom had me on a plane!! lol! I still cringe. It was such an obvious lie!

I was a chronic liar as a kid! Some of my most absurd lies included:
-Telling my friends I had to take "crazy pills" (I actually found an old pill bottle and filled it with sweet tarts to prove it!), -Telling my old best friend that I saw aliens in my backyard (I later found out she stopped being my friend because she thought I was serious and I scared the crap out of her!)
-I used to know a kid who was nicknamed "Quake" because he was born during an earthquake. Well I apparently thought that was cool because when my family moved to a new town, I told everyone I had been born during an earthquake.

Ironically, now I am a terrible liar.

@Mrs. Taco: Hahaha that's terrible, BUT I told my younger sister a somewhat similar story. I have NO idea why. She was maybe 5 and I think I was around 8 at the time and I randomly told her that we used to have a brother named Andrew but that our parents didn't want him anymore so they threw him down a garbage chute. She believed me, but then she got upset and asked our parents why they didn't want Andrew anymore...

Pretty sure my parents thought I might be "disturbed" for a while.

@mediagirl: LOL you only got grounded for a week for that?! My parents grounded me for 6 months, no joke, the 1 freaking time I snuck out!

So yeah, I suck at lying and my 'biggest whopper' of saying I was in my bedroom when I wasn't totally didn't work!

Oh i remember my biggest lie. I got in SO much trouble.

I was 18 and supposed to work the 3-10pm shift, but my boyfriend had just come from 4 states over for a visit and was planning to go to a concert with my best friend. I really wanted to go, so I told my parents I got out of work to go out with them... only I couldn't actually find anyone to take my shift, so I told them that I thought I had chicken pox (my little sister had it at the time and I had never gotten it).

I left to go to the concert, and an hour later my mom calls me fuming because the managers at work had the house number in my employee file and had called the house to speak with me and try to work with me missing my shift. So my mom knew I lied, and then my manager knew I lied. I ended up getting written up and it being put in my file. I was so embarrassed.

Oh man. I am a terrible liar! I honestly can't even remember any lies that I told as a child. Maybe small white lies?

I didn't even sneak out to do anything. I would stay at a friends house and we would sneak out together, but I never lied about saying I stayed at x's house! Because I really did! we just... didn't stay there all night. LOL.

Maybe I was better at withholding certain truths.

@MsBadger: looooool. Hilarious. Kind of reminds me of one time in middle school I kept going around asking all the younger boys if they'd ever "pitched a tent", which they mostly responded "of course!", I laughed hysterically each time. One of the teachers caught me and scolded me for it. I was so ashamed.

@.twist.: I was the same way. I didn't really tell a lot of lies, it was more just omitting the truth sometimes. And I would never sneak out of my house, but when I spent the night at someone else's house, we totally would!
