On the nice little walk I just took, I noticed that someone still has Xmas decorations up outside of their house. It is already spring - take them down people!

Haha that is bad. We usually have ours down a few days after Christmas. Although, my grandma has always told me about the time she left all of her decorations up until March because my dad was deployed and wasn't home for Christmas, so she left them up until he got home (many years ago). He loves Christmas. She says she got a lot of comments but didn't care

I like to take decorations down right when the holiday is over.

@chopsuey119: nah, i don't think you would leave something outside of your house for everyone to see? haha.
@Mrs Sorbet: that is too sweet!!!! i think my neighbors are just lazy. i know them and i don't think that is their situation.

One of my neighbors never takes down their Christmas lights. They stay up all year. I think it looks really tacky!

By New Year's Day everything is cleared out, packed away in the basement, and the tree is on the curb.
But can I vent for a second? It drives me crazy when people don't take theirs down. Our next door neighbor just leaves them up year round and adds to them in December. SO obnoxious. Last year they put in these really ugly snowman and santa lollypop looking things across their front lawn and they are still there. They also turn the icicle lights along the roof every single night. Colored flashing icicle lights in April. WHY? I'm really afraid this is going to be a problem when we try to sell our house. Who wants to live next door to the crazy Christmas people?

@mrskc: are they white lights or colored? i think maaaaaaaaaybe white ones would be ok as decoration. but maybe not, depends on how they look.

@Mrs Sorbet: that is so sweet.
We usually take them down pretty late because I looooove Christmas decorations. Late January usually. I may or may not still have our Christmas wreath on our front door. Maybe.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@mrskc: in that case, i would probably agree!
@mrs. wagon: our wreath is usually the last thing to come down, too. that could be acceptable depending on how christmas-y your wreath looks. hehe.

@Andrea: err... it's brown twigs with red holly berries, green leaves, and a big red bow. I just keep forgetting because it's on the outside rather the inside! It's our only outdoor decoration. gahhh.

@mrs. wagon: i understand though. that is exactly why our wreath is usually up for a while because i just don't think about it! maybe you will take it down tonight. haha!

We usually leave them up a week past New Year's since the first is my birthday and I like looking at them still.
I had been planning to use the baby being born as an excuse to let my MIL take the decorations down in mid-January, but we got bored and started taking them down on the 7th.... and then my water broke in the middle of my husband putting the tree away.
The doctor told us to come in right away to get checked, but I asked if we could finish putting the tree away and watching the basketball game first, since I just knew they would never let me go home.

Um, I may or may not still have our Christmas centerpiece still out on our coffee table.... It's because I haven't gotten anything to replace it and it will look bare! I need to just do it though, it's embarrassing.

@mrs. wagon: I love that we both went the "may or may not" route

@daniellemybelle: my wreath may or may not still be on our door............................

@daniellemybelle: oh shoot! You reminded me that I have a fall/winter potpourri thing on my hall table that I should probably remove. I have nothing to replace it with either!

I left my Christmas tree up until the end of January. I only took it down because people were coming over for a party.
I did leave up a "Happy Easter" sign on my door until Halloween. : /

One week. Our HOA has pretty tight restrictions on how long you can leave things up, which really helps make the neighborhood look nice.
