I'm trying to figure out what to get for my nephew for Christmas. His parents are pretty minimalist and they aren't a fan of a lot of plastic. I don't really know what he is interested in. They don't watch TV and he's not involved in any outside activities (other than preschool) that I know of.
I'm curious what you are getting the 4 year old boys in your lives this year. Help me.

LO is 5, and he's getting a Lego set and the new illustrated version of Harry Potter. It seems that my answer to every gift question is Legos...but honestly, they're pretty perfect toys for this age!

Haha, sounds like my son last year. He got a few Lego sets, a few books and some clothes.

@mediagirl: I'd do real legos. E is 3.5 this Christmas and we're looking at some lego junior sets for him. My BIL got him a real lego set last month and E was able to sit and help DH assemble it. He helped and was interested the whole time. Now he likes to take a few pieces off and put them back on when he plays with it by himself.

My 4 yr old DS is getting a Thomas the Train mega blocks set and a Bruder cement mixer truck. Building toys are always good for that age. There are nice wooden ones like Tegu or even Lincoln logs, etc?
