I give him a bath, we say good night to DH, then I take him into our bed and give him a massage with a little bit of lotion while singing to him, put him in a sleep sack and then nurse him to sleep.

We are pretty simple:
1. Bath
2. Bottle (or nurse)
3. Story
4. Kiss "goodnight!"

We do a bath, then bottle (he hates getting out of the bath and the bottle helps to calm him down). He has to be rocked to sleep though which is our downfall. Going to try to see if we can break that soon.

Lo is 17 months.
1. Bath.
2. Pjs
3. Brush hair
4. Sippy of milk

Bath, lotion(mini massage)/pajamas/sleepsack, sometimes a story, but she is only 4 months so we skip it at times. Lullabies from pandora while she nurses and then to bed!

Our routine is:
- bath
- lotion, baby massage, sleeper and sleepsack
- Story
- Bottle
- Bed
pomegranate / 3388 posts
Bath
Diaper, lotion, PJs
Bottle
Sleepsack
Rocking
Bed
We're hoping to get rocking out of the equation soon. DD is getting pretty good at falling asleep from "drowsy but awake" in her crib, but she still has not mastered falling asleep when we put her in her crib awake. I have a feeling that more sleep training is in our future.

Bath
Brush hair, lotion, diaper, jammies
Bottle
Rocking (sometimes, sometimes we just sit together on the sofa)
Kiss dad good night
Say good night to big sister (the cat, who always lays near us on the sofa in the evening)
I take her up to bed, give her her pacifier and hold her hand for a couple of minutes until she is mostly asleep
Sometimes she falls asleep as soon as she gets her bottle.
Pour myself a glass of wine!

Olive 15 months - bath, diaper, lotion, jammies, sleep sack, white noise, turn off lights, nurse, in crib
pomegranate / 3516 posts
We seem to be the only ones that don't do a bath at bedtime but a bath gets her all excited because she loves them.
She's just shy of 6 months old.
1. Bottle from DH (about 4 oz)
2. We call this naked baby time - we undress her down to her diaper and let her stretch out and roll around for a few minutes. We also turn on the white noise machine.
3. Diaper change
4. Massage with lotion
5. Pajamas and sleep sack
6. Nurse for a minute
7. In crib drowsy but awake (this is new)
8. Glowing seahorse on, lights off

Baby is 1 year old:
Bath
PJs and sleep sack, kiss Daddy goodnight
Books
Nurse (he has been falling asleep while nursing lately, but not always)
If he doesn't fall asleep, we turn off the lights, say prayers, sing lullabies and rock for a bit and then he goes into the crib and can usually fall asleep on his own

LO is 8 months
Our routine is:
- bath
- aquaphor, diaper, pjs
- 2 books
- bottle
- sleep sack
- 1 song with back patting
- say "goodnight, sweet dreams, mommy and daddy love you so much"
- put in crib
- turn on white noise
- lights out and leave room
@skibobrown: we are in the same boat! Just started sleep training again tonight with the above routine. After our first attempt at sleep training, LO would need to be rocked for a little longer until drowsy before I put her down, but its been taking longer and longer. Somehow she started training me into our old routine pre- sleep training!

Thanks for all the input!
@MamaJaja: I like that you have *goodnight* words for your LO.
pomegranate / 3383 posts
We've been doing the same routine since LO was 4 weeks with some minor changes.
Bath
Massage/Lotion, Diaper
Bottle or Nurse
PJs and Sleep Sack
Night Night, I love you!
When he turned 6-ish months he wanted to hold his own bottle so we started giving him his bottle as we were giving him his bottle on the change table. Our routine takes 15-20 minutes.

@MsLipGloss: the only sad thing is LO immediately starts crying when she hears these words because she knows she about to be put in the crib. But at least we know she knows her cue.

LO is 14 Weeks:
Bath
Pjs/Sleep Sack
Bottle
Rock
Lay in bed drozy with white noise and her wubbie (pacifier)
pea / 17 posts
Nurse
Brush teeth
Diaper change
Pajamas
Turn on white noise
Turn off lights
Sing twinkle twinkle little star
Crib (awake)
I used to nurse him to sleep until very recently, but now I put it at the beginning of the routine to break that sleep association and help reduce night wakings. He is 11 months. Even if he seems like he's not tired when we start putting him to bed, as soon as I start singing he rubs his face on cue.

from birth to 6 months:
1. Bath
2. PJs/swaddle
3. bottle
4. white noise
5. bed (awake)
At 6 months, we stopped bathing her every night (2-3 times a week) and now we do a sleepsack instead of a swaddle.

bananas / 9973 posts

Bath

15 months:
Ritual starts around 6:30-6:45.
- Bath
- PJs + diaper
- say good night to daddy (if daddy is home)
- Cup of milk + story time (3 books usually)
- wipe his teeth (ah this is painful)
- say good night to Mr Giraffe (giant giraffe in his room)
- put in crib, offers blankie
- press the yellow lion's tummy which recites a prayer. These days I would follow the lion and say the exact wordings, LO finds it humorous.
- lights out.
Ritual finishes by 7-7:20.

LO is 3.5 months.
Bath
Lotion
Jammies
Nurse
Swaddle
Rock
Out.
She mostly falls asleep while nursing, but not always. I swaddle her afterward which she rouses a bit for. Sometimes she'll take a paci while rocking, but usually not for too long. DH and try not to put her down with a paci - a friend has scared the crap out of us with stories of 4-5 wake ups for paci replacement each night.
pomegranate / 3388 posts
Once we established a routine, but before 1 year it was
(1) Bath
(2) Diaper / lotion / PJs
(3) Bottle
(4) Sleep Sack
(5) Rocking (we eventually dropped that step close to 1 year)
(6) Crib for the night
Now at 13 months the bottle has been replaced by story time and a sippy cup with water, and there is no more rocking.
