We've been doing a lot of necessary home updates, but one thing we're not doing at this moment is changing all of our interior doors. We've decided to do them next spring because we need a break and are setting aside some cash each month to do it. I estimate the whole job will cost us about $750, including labor.

Right now we are just saving to build up our savings account to where we want it. We are getting close! Our goal is to have $10k, and right now we are just over $6k. Once we reach that goal, I think we are going to start putting all extra money towards student loans!!!

Saving for our next and *hopefully* forever home. We want to put at least 20% down this time so we aren't paying PMI every month. We have enough for the down payment but are saving so that we'll have a comfortable cushion and know we'll need to do upgrades in any house we buy. We'll be moving in the spring!

We don't have a stated goal, we just put the same amount into savings each paycheck. We know we have some home improvements to do in the nearish future (new insulation, drywall, and doors in the garage; a new roof in 3-4 years) but we're basically just building up a stash of cash for whatever comes.

My savings goal is the same as always, which is : MORE.
We pay our property taxes in one lump-sum, and between them and homeowners insurance we'll be losing $7k next month from savings....so, first priority right now is not pulling my hair out over that.

We're hoping to pay off our car at the end of the year, so building up savings for that. After that we'll be saving for new living room furniture. It's pathetic how ridiculous our living room looks.

We're trying to pay off my car, which is our biggest financial goal right now. Then we'll start saving up for a downpayment for my husband's next car. We're also putting money into emergency savings "just because." I have a number in mind that I'd like to get our e-savings too.
Having a kid is really going to affect all of these things though! Not so much paying off my car bc that will hopefully be done before he/she arrives, but the other savings. We had a plan and now we're going to have lots of extra expenses we didn't think about!

Retirement!!! We're planning to put away a very large amount into our retirement savings plan this year, only a few months left to go!

We are buying stuff for the baby and doing some minor home improvement work, but we are still saving money on top of that. Ideally, we will have a second downpayment in 5ish years so that when we move out of our condo our new purchase won't have to be perfectly timed with selling our current place. (We might even just rent out our condo and keep it as an investment.)
Once we have the baby, that savings rate is going to be diminished because we will also need to pay for childcare plus a 529 plan. I am not looking forward to that budget revamp!

Saving for the down payment on our forever home. The goal is to save enough so that once we sell our current home, our new mortgage will be fairly similar to what it is now.

We just had to replace our shower and bannister, which pretty much wiped our emergency savings. We're building that back up, and then working on paying off the student loans/mortgage!

Always saving for our next vacation, even though we just got back from one last week Oh and the never ending home improvement/maintenance projects -- right now we're working on our garage. @looch: Interior doors is also on our list! As is a new coat of exterior paint.

We've got a few different goals right now, but the main one is saving to replace our A/C unit in the spring. That's gonna be a doozy. We're also saving to buy DH a new truck, which may or may not also happen in the spring.

We are saving to buy a house in the semi-near future, travel at Thanksgiving and hopefully again in February or April, and I would LOVE a new (to me) car. We will see. DH handles all of that

We recently hit our first savings goal - 3 month emergency fund. Sadly it took us 3 years of marriage to do! Right now we are not saving, but paying off credit card debt. Soonish we will switch gears & start saving again for a down payment on a house.

No specific goals right now. 401K contributions get deposited automatically each month, we've already maxed out roth contributions for the year, so now all extra money each month gets allocated between our retail investment account, our daughter's retail investment account, and her 529 account. We just save as we go and then whenever need something large or unexpected we dip in to pay for it.

We just had a long discussion about this. DH has been wanting to upgrade to more energy efficient windows. He thinks it's a necessity since ours are old and need work. I don't think they're that bad, but agree that getting the windows done trumps expanding the kitchen (what I've wanted done since we bought the place). Apparently, it's gonna cost a lot more than I thought and although we've been putting money away for house necessities, we don't feel comfortable emptying that account to get it done.
So now it's continuing to save and trying to pay off our mortgage early.
