Starting work next month! This will be the 2nd job I've had since lo was born but this one is a better job and I think the timing is right now.
So, I want to hear from experienced WOHMs! What is your favorite part of being a WOHM?

Does wasting away time on Hellobee count?
Besides that, I enjoy eating my food slooowly on my own time, sitting down, without having to run around like a chicken with its head cut off. I also like my coworkers so I enjoy the social interaction I have with them.

I like how much more I appreciate being with my kids, even when its difficult.

I'm just a better mom because I don't spend all day with her. I need to get out of the house, away from DD, and spend time with adults. I try to cherish the time I do get to spend with her in the mornings and evenings. I worked long and hard for my degree, and even though I don't love my job, I like that I'm putting my degree to use. And I feel less guilty buying things for myself because I work.

I feel more motivated working. I just don't think I would be a good SAHM - it's not my personality. I had my son at almost 33 so I worked in a professional environment for a long time. It's part of me. Getting up every day and going to work feels normal. It makes me appreciate the time I do spend with DS so much more. I like providing for my family too. Financially I couldn't stay at home. I also like interacting with adults on a normal basis.

I've been back at work for one week now and here are the things I love about it:
1) Wearing make up and doing my hair every day. I feel so much better about myself already. I have enjoyed wearing gorgeous heels, too!
2) Sharing the morning routine and other baby care duties with DH. No longer does everything fall down to me now because "uuuuugh, DH has work" ......! Now we both have work!
3) Leaving the house with just myself and my cute handbag instead of a huge change-bag and a car seat! (Two days a week DH does the daycare run and I love it!!)
4) Driving to work with the music blaring, having a singalong - with no screaming from the backseat! Bliss!
5) Drinking hot coffee/tea at work.
6) Eating my lunch in peace - when I want to eat it! Without having to share! Or break to wrestle with poop!!
7) Going to the ladies whenever I feel the urge - on my own, for as long as I like, with no screaming in the background.
8) Using my brain! It feels so good! I'm a fully functioning human being again and I love it.
9) Seeing my little girl get really excited to see me at the end of the day!! It soooooo cute!!! She LOVES seeing me (whereas before, she had smiles for everyone except me!)
10) I appreciate the time I spend with my daughter so much more. Instead of feeling emotionally drained and unable to respond to her needs or play with the appropriate amount of enthusiasm, I love spending the time with her.
11) She's learning so much at nursery from the other kids and from the nursery staff who are wonderful. Honestly, after just two full days last week (she is with her grandparents three days per week), she has rolled across the floor, she's trying to sit herself up, she's using her sippy cup, it's amazing.
12) Having money again!

Cherrybee, I couldn't agree more!
I would just elaborate on having money...I am sharing the load of financial burdens, making my husband less stressed.

@Cherrybee: thank you for this - I go back this week and I'm so terrified! This made me feel so much better

I manage my time so much better. I'm a PT WOHM, but having a scheduled job has made it so that I know what needs to get done and when, and I'm better at making it happen. I have more motivation and resolve since I've been working.
Re: the money thing, it's just made it so we aren't going more into debt by being a SAHM, now I can finally work to pay it off. So I don't feel like I have extra money, per se, but I can be a lot wiser and stress a little less.

Social interaction, lunch to myself, I can finish a whole cup of coffee while it is hot! I have something that is mine and I enjoy the intellectual stimulation. Time with LO becomes quality time.

I will totally agree with other posters about appreciating my time with J more. Not that SAHM's don't appreciate their time with their LO, please don't get me wrong, I just know that I have a lot more patience on days that I work than on days I'm at home because I know I only have x amount of time with J and no matter what his attitude is I'm going to take it in stride better if I know I only have 3 hours with him as opposed to 10 hours.
I think, for me, the ideal balance would be a PT WOHM schedule because I often do feel overwhelmed by how I'll get things done, however, we also have $ woes because DH is a student and I hope that eventually things will be less stressful. If I do continue to work, DH has promised that we can get a house cleaner which will make a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE difference
Being a WOHM is hard, but so very rewarding! My best advice for going back is just THROW yourself into work, the more you think/stress about it the harder it'll be on yourself.

The paycheck???
Also, I'm exhausted when I stay home with LO all day. I feel much more energized after a work day and I really make my evenings count with LO. I also enjoy my downtime and don't feel bad that I'm not entertaining her all day and that she's bored.
It really helps that I love my job as well!
