When I get a gift card, I want to use it ASAP and I'll actively look for something to spend it on!
DH's saves them forever until he "needs" to use it!

I usually keep a mental list or a wish list so when i get a gift card, I'll purchase whatever it is I've been wanting!
Last Christmas the inlaws gave us a really generous Amazon giftcard! Bought most of the stuff on my wish list, and saved the rest for diapers and baby stuff.
It only took us about 2 months to burn through it.

I usually go browse the store and don't buy something the first time. It takes a couple trips to spend it all.

I'm terrible with gift cards...I want to make sure I use it on something good so let's say I'm given a target gift card. I might buy 43 things from Target but don't deem any of them worthy of the gift card. Then, I forget I have the giftcard and it sits unused. We used to have a huge basket of giftcards on our desk. I recently bought a zippered pouch for my purse where I carry them all and force ourselves to use them, even if it's not on something "good".
However, that's just for ones I receive as gifts. I routinely buy gift cards because our grocery store offers fuel points (10 cents off/gallon for every 100 points you earn) and you can often times get double or quadruple points for gift cards. So, I buy giftcards to places I know we frequent (Target, certain restaurants, Lowes, etc.) because it's the same as paying with cash AND I get the fuel points. I often times save $2.00/gallon on fuel which is awesome.

That's so funny you started this thread because my friends were making fun of me the other day about my gift card spending style. I have gift cards from 2 years ago that I still haven't used! And I have around 12 different gift cards! Thankfully these don't expire (I checked)!
For some strange reason, I'm MORE picky about what to use my gift card credit for than I am with my own money. No idea why.

sometimes we save it, but usually we have something in mind that we need from the place and use it right away
we just used a $100 at&t gift card for switching services on our glider and ottoman last week!

Right away, otherwise I either lose them or forget about them!

I definitely spend mine right away, but Hubs is a holder! He has a Regal Cinemas gift card from more than 5 years ago that still has money on it! We don't have a Regal convenient to us, so we've barely used it.

Depends on what kind of gift card...if it's from Amazon, or like a Visa gift card, we'll usually put it towards something on our wish list (which right now is mostly baby stuff) right away.
If it's to a different store (like Target) or a restaurant or something, we'll save it until we go there, but won't usually make a special trip right away.
They usually get used pretty quickly, though...not the type to hold onto cards for months and months (or years).
