I was ready to work pretty much right away, but then again I work from home! It would probably have been much harder if I actually had to go back to a job and lug a pump around!

I say six months. I remember getting to six months and starting to feel an itch to go to work.

I voted other. I would love to have as much time as needed.... hahaha When I'm ready to go back to work they should just let me come back.

I think 6 months minimum, but 1 year would be nice since your baby grows and learns so much during this time!

I voted SAHM but people I've worked with have generally taken 9mths-1yr off, so I would say about that long if I were going back to work.

I'm torn between 3 & 6 months. I only get 8 weeks home, plus another 2 home half-time, so even 12 weeks sounds like a luxury!

I would feel more comfortable leaving LO at 3 months than 6 weeks.

Dream situation is a SAHM until my LO is in Kindergarten. I don't understand what the point is in it after that!
Realistically, it will be 6 weeks. I would kill for 6 months though.

4 months was perfect for me. 5 months for DD was way too long. And I was not ready to go back after the standard 3 months.

Ideally? Two years, so I could breastfeed for two straight years without having to worry about dealing with pumping. I realize that's impractical for most job situations though.

Ideally I would say a year because of BFing. Though I opted to be a SAHM.

This is a hard one for me….I was out for about 12 weeks and although in my mind I think ideally maternity should be longer; I also think it was easier to leave LO at 12 weeks than it would have been at 6 months. So, I’m torn.

I will have a year and, at the moment, that seems like the ideal length to me. I don't actually have experience with it yet, so ask me again in a year when it's drawing to a close

I only had 8 weeks, it was so hard to send him to daycare that young. I voted six months, because I think he was more ready to be apart from me and able to interact with other kids by that age, but really I'd prefer to be SAHM

We have a year here, and I think it is perfect. I feel like in 2 months when I go back I will feel "ready" and S has gotten a ton more independent in the past few weeks, so I think he will be ready as well.

I would like to stay home until my LO goes to nursery/kindergarten. Oh well, maybe in the next life!
