i hate middle of day too. I recently went to a party that was scheduled from 12 to 3 i think, or 11 to 2. either way, it was during LOs nap time. I think i prefer later in the day just so i don't have to rush there, although we haven't actually been to any morning parties, so i can't compare. I imagine it would be nice to have it done in the morning so u are free the rest of day. I prefer to host parties later in the day though so i have the day to prep.

3pm. Right after nap time but enough time before bed.

It seems like everything we've been invited to lately has been at one... smack dab in the middle of nap time. I prefer around 10 so that lunch is served at the end of the party, and we can go home and nap.

Morning (like 10) or afternoon (like 4).

We are starting at 2pm this year. LO doesn't nap anymore (although her friends do sometimes, I think) but it's more for ending time. Parties at home can go on longer than the finishing time (which I like) but with a baby at home as well this year, we thought bringing it forward a bit would be best.

11:30 or 12. My Los usually nap around 1:30 but missing/delaying a nap isn't a big deal for me for a party or special occasion.

@travelgirl1: it's all good. everything will be screwed up with L's nap that day anyway since we will be attempting a stroller nap at the baby time show and the time will have just changed one week prior. I may get lucky and he will nap just before your party or on the way....or not at all, lol. I just hope not during!

Mine nap from 2-4, so I love late morning/early afternoon.

I like brunch/10:30ish or post-nap/3:30ish.

I voted 3pm, but my LO is only 2. We've been to a few 4+yr old parties that started at 12pm and did lunch at 1. I don't really care if she misses her nap anymore!

I picked 11am b/c that's when DD's party will start.. She will be 1 in Dec and she still takes two naps so it has to be between her naps!

I like 11am bc DS (13 months) is still on 2 naps and that is right between them! We went to a birthday party at 1pm this weekend and it was rough for timing - thankfully he "slept in" and we were able to delay his naps a bit, but we still missed cake & presents bc of naptime.

Definitely morning. LO is in his best form then, and 12:30-1 interferes with naptime. My friend keeps having parties at lunch, and we end up pushing his nap and he either naps super late or just skips it, then I end up with a cranky kid.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I can't believe there was no food at that time. That's insane.

@autumnlove: ditto! Most of the parties we've been to start around noon and the food is already set out and ready to eat. Kids eat, play, then we head home around 3 for late naps for our 1 and 3 year old.

The only family we know who does 3pm parties usually has the parents (dads) there drinking on the patio until 9p or 10p, so on those days, the kids miss their naps entirely and are pretty miserable.
