Other than the absolute necessities like diapers, crib, and clothes.
Mine is a white noise machine. Olive and Charlie's room is right next to each other, and Charlie constantly wakes Olive up. In fact we have two white noise machines in her room because one isn't loud enough!

I agree - white noise machine is pretty good. Totally blocks out all the house noises.

Baby wipes. I say this only because this is the one thing I carry in my bag 100% of the time, even if Wagon Jr. is not with me!

We have white noise playing in our house around the clock! The funny thing is that DS has slept fine without it a couple of times although we feel like we have have to tiptoe around the house then.
An essential for us would be a baby carrier (we have a bjorn, ergo and recently acquired a pognae) since stroller walks haven't been the most successful!

White noise machine and swing come in tied for me. The white noise machine is a godsend for sleeping at night but the swing is the easiest way to get her to nap during the day. She also likes to hang out in it when she's awake and it keeps her calm.

i would say car seat. my LO spends most of her time in the car seat, she rather sit in her car seat than in her cradle swing or crib

Yup, video monitor. We don't use a white noise machine but now I'm considering one since so many of you list it as a necessity!

@Mrsbells: I would pretty much have to agree. Our LO sleeps in his car seat most nights and he likes it when DH swings him in it, calms him right down

we have two of the marpac sound machines (that mr bee linked to). they're great, but not loud enough to conquer a toddler. so i play a free white noise app on an old iphone in addition to the marpac in olive's room.
i know they say that your baby should get used to sleeping in noise, but i don't see how that's possible! every time there's a loud noise, she wakes up!

@mediagirl: I bought the Motorola one...I am really hoping it will bring down my stress. Whenever LO naps for more than 2 hours, I start to panic. Hopefully I can stop pacing back and forth and just relax!

Probably my aden and Anais blankets, they were for swaddling, for spit up, wam enough in the winter and cool enough in the summer. Just today we hung out at the beach and they are breathable enough to drape over him while he napped in my arms. We love them!

@Coco Bee: We do have the summer infant! It worked 13+ months for us and would probably last until baby #2. Once #2 arrives we planned on getting the Motorola (convenience of toggling back and forth between cameras and etc.). We're headed to VA this weekend and I thought it would be nice not being stuck in the hotel room all night with LO, so we decided to upgrade early.
Will probably sell our current for super cheap if anyone's interested!

Only speaking from one week's experience, our vibrating bassinet that came with our pack and play. LO sleeps like a dream in this!

halo brand swaddle wearable blanket in microfleece........it is the only thing he will sleep well in at night.
also diaper bum spray that i use with our cloth wipes.....makes bum cleaning easy and his skin loves it
