I get caught up on laundry and then I turn around and theres 5 more loads! I feel like I do it every day, it is so overwhelming. I have a load in the washer, one in the dryer and 2 loads that need to be folded, plus some that are folded that need to be put away.

I wish I knew! I like throwing things to be washed but hate folding the clean laundry. I would be fine with a chair-dresser. Hahaha

seriously. I do a load every day to try to stay ahead of it but all of a sudden I have 9 loads to do in a day and no one has underwear. I don't get it.
@Kimberlybee: a chair dresser!! hahaha. my mom has a bed-dresser. my dad hates it!

@Kimberlybee: I don't mind washing/drying but yeah lugging it all back up to fold (our washer and dryer are in the basement) and sorting it into piles for each person takes forever. Especially when I have little helpers.

Honestly its just a lot easier now that I don't work. I do a load pretty much every day but it doesn't seem like a lot because I throw it in before a nap, switch it after a nap, and fold some time in the afternoon. I walk by the laundry room 10 times a day so folding is the only thing that takes any time and its like... 15 min or less for one basket. So it just doesn't really seem like a huge deal right now. But I'm sure if I WOH it would be way harder because I'd have to either give up precious post-bedtime time or do like a thousand loads every weekend.

I try to put one in every morning, and when they are done I dump them on my bed so I can't go to bed until they are put away. Occasionally I am so tired I sweep them back into a basket until the next morning, but usually visually seeing them there helps me. I usually put them away right before bed and make DH help haha

I do a big washing day on Monday (usually 4 loads) and I fold on Tuesday when T is in school. He doesn't nap anymore so it's hard for me to fold a whole mess while both kids are home / awake. I also do a few loads on Thursday, his other school day. But you're right it seems to never end (and I have a spit up baby so baby laundry is crazy).

I do separate loads for each person and towels so I don't have to go all over the place to put it away. And I watch Netflix while folding laundry because that's one chore that I always dread for some reason.

I usually do four loads in one day every 5-7 days. I'm sure that will increase once lo2 is here though.

@jhd: ok separate loads for everyone is genius! Or at least one load for each girl. E is in 2T mostly and A in 3-4T and some of it looks so dang close in size. Obviously I know whose is whose but I get mixed up sometimes. My thing is I toss everything in one pile so I would have to switch up how I handle that.

Honestly unless stuff is really dirty I do a lot of 15 minute loads. I dry a fair amount of clothes on a rack. I put my CD in right before bed and hang them in the morning.

@Bao: it was dh's idea when we were first married. he said it would be easier for him because he knows where to put all the towels etc. and how to fold his own clothes but claimed he wasn't sure how to handle my clothes! Lol
our LO has a little hamper from ikea in his room and I just end up doing his laundry maybe twice per week if nothing crazy happens.

Yes and yes! I have to put it away when it's folded. Drives me crazy to leave it out because then that is a mess in and of itself. Sometimes if I don't have time to fold but there's a load in the wash and more waiting I will take the stuff out of the dryer into a basket. Put the wet stuff in the dryer and when that's dried I put the load in the basket back in the dryer to dewrinkle. At least then it gives me time to wash an extra load until I have time to fold!

@winniebee: DH taught DD1 how to fold washcloths and sort her socks. Best idea everrrr and we can fold laundry with her around now.

@jhd: that's a great idea. The boys have separate hampers but I end up washing them together and have to sort them.

DH does it, which is great because it's one of my least favorite chores! I still do DD's laundry but that's only one load a week!

I have a laundry schedule! I do the baby / kid laundry on Tuesday and Friday, the adult stuff on Wednesday and Saturday and everything else in the weekend or just whenever it needs doing. I'm also very lucky that DH is a tidy guy so will do laundry when he can see it needs doing - yay DH!!

I do laundry once a week. I hate it but it works. One week I do the kids laundry, the next I do mine. DH always does his own. It's the only way I can keep up.

i do 3 loads on the weekend and that's it. unless LO gets sick of course. I just have to be vigilant about it because we share machines with the other tenants in our building....i don't know what will happen when we have a house in a couple of months. I remember once when i was single with a washer/dryer in my apartment, i opened the dryer after a week and found wrinkled unfolded clothes!

I have no clue. No matter how proactive I try to be, I always have laundry and somehow I always have folding to do.

I do it everyday. That way if and when a day gest skipped, it's still not an overwhelming amount and I can catch up easily

I do a heck of a lot of laundry, but I've found I can cut one load out of my day by setting the timer and having it wash (or dry) during the night or early morning. at least then by the time I'm awake one load is already done. ironing is my pet peeve, it never gets done.

I actually don't mind doing laundry because I had to go to laundromat for years, and having it in my home still feels like a luxury. I do laundry probably every other day to stay on top of things.

I try also do seperate loads (usually) for DH, towels, baby clothes, and me. I try to only do 1-2 loads per day so clean clothes don't pile up. I try to fold it the same day, but lately it gets pushed the next day. I used to fold it while DH was in the bathroom. Tonight I tried but the baby didn't want to stay asleep. It's acutully bothering me that I couldn't finish folding.

Hate laundry.
I do so many loads, so many. I make it harder on myself too, by separating everything, then hanging most to dry. It takes so long.
I know if I fold as soon as they're dry then I keep up.
My method is once the pile gets huge then I separate into jeans, pj's, towels, our shirts, kids shirts, underwear, and socks. Then I fold each pile and put away as I go. -
There's a trick? I feel like I never stop doing washing.

I feel like it's a win just to have everything clean. I keep up with washing, atleast 1 load a day. But I usually have a pile in our room that needs folded and put away.

No time for doing laundry every day - I usually do it when I get home from work Friday into the evening. Also I always wash on the "quick cycle" so it takes like 35 mins
Then on Sunday I change all the sheets and wash those.

We have time of use electricity rates, so I try to work within those...I work from home most Fridays, so I'll do one load that morning, we do one Saturday morning if we're not heading out right away, and then one Saturday night, and then usually 1-2 loads on Sunday. If I work at home another day, I throw a load in then too.

I do a few loads a couple of nights a week (never on Friday, mama needs a break), then loads all day long on Sunday. I honestly wouldn't mind it if my machines were on my main living floor instead of my creepy basement. And DD being out of cloth diapers makes it seem like so much less laundry!

I separate colors, darks, lights, Baby stuff, diapers
I wash diapers 2 times a week, baby stuff once a week, and as the separate bins fill up those i throw them in

The secret: get rid of most of your clothes.
DH and I got rid of about 3/4 of our wardrobe. It helps tremendously. Even if we washed every single thing we owned, it would probably only be about five or six loads.
We (he) does a smallish load every few days. He works from home, so that helps a lot. He throws it in in the morning and folds it sometime that afternoon. Sometimes I fold after I get home from work. There have been times where we ran out of underwear, but it just taught us to stay on top of it.
I'm sure things will change once we have kids.

laundry is our weak spot---not doing it, but hanging it and putting it away.
DH does his and LOs most of the time; I do mine. DH will actually hang and fold his own clothes but always leaves LOs. But the jokes on him, because my house cleaning NEMESIS is putting away laundry--so it's way more likely to just sit around in a chair till LO wears it, which is what I do with my own clothes.

We have lots of underwear! Dh washes his clothes once a week and I wash mine and LO altogether once a week. Every other week DH puts in a second load of linens (is that gross) and overflow. When I do my wash I drop it first thing in the morning and switch to dry by the time I'm done with morning stuff or errands. We usually fold right before we sleep. It is so tedious!!

DH works from home Monday and doesn't work on Friday. LO is in daycare both those days so I've made laundry his task and he usually gets it done. I try to help out with LO's laundry since it isn't as time critical.
