We used the digital onenrectally in the very beginning then switched to a temporal one, which our ped's office recently said is not super accurate but it worked out ok for us (although lo was not sick even with her first cold til 11m..) At 3 we just switched to an ear one because that's that they recommended. I don't think the ear ones are recommended for babies though.

Rectal for around the first year. Then we got one for the ear.

We have a rectal, in ear, and temporal. Rectal definitely is the only really accurate one, but now that she is a toddler, I don't feel the need to have the most accurate temp and am ok with an estimation (like does it really matter if it's 102.3 or 103? She has a fever).

The in ear one came in a first aid kit and was useless. I couldn't even get a real temp on myself.

The Exergen temporal one is what we use the most, but I do agree that it's not the most accurate. I usually test it on myself first, assuming that I have a normal temp, and adjust the temp I get on the toddler based on how off t is for me. Close enough and if she is really sick we go to the ped anyway.

We used a rectal one for the first 18 months. He didn't really seem to mind it. We had the covers for it and always used Vaseline so it didn't hurt him.

We now have a ear thermometer and LOVE it. It was a little more pricey at $45, but it is super easy and DS actually asks to get his temp checked when he sees it.

Our pediatrician said the rectal one is the most reliable one at first. Around 18 months, our office for us we could switch to a temporal one, but it's never worked as well for us, the readings are all over the place. But I voted rectal in your poll, because it says "babies" and rectal is standard for infants.
