I had a Dell laptop (that I very uncreatively named Della) for years before she crapped out and wouldn't turn on last fall.
Now I have an ASUS laptop that I bought from my brother for a song. He's an IT guy, and it was his personal laptop for about a year, and he souped it up 
I think he only offered to sell it to me so I'd stop sending him billions of questions on FB about which laptop I should buy

An old Toshiba Satellite laptop and a brand new, custom-build PC. I used an iMac before this one, but it just didn't do what I needed it to.

Macbook Pro! My old own lasted me 5 years and I'm rough on computers. The only reason I got a new one was that I couldn't run programs I need for work on the old one anymore.

A super old sony vaio...we are currently shopping for a good one that I can use for pictures (and HB haha!) and DH can use for school.

I have an old iMac that I love to death and still runs perfectly. But I'm running into similar issues as @charmed:, so I'll probably upgrade soon..

We have Dells - basically I get a new computer at work every two years and have the option to "buy" the old one for the tax cost ($100 or so). We just keep "upgrading" our home computer with my old work computer. Works for us - we don't do anything fancy.
