We always had cats! I forget how old we were when we got our first cat - pretty young, but certainly old enough not to hurt the cat. A family member gave her to us, and then a little later, a neighbor gave us a second cat.

Then cat #1 got feline leukemia (or feline aids) and died.
We then adopted cats #3 and #4 - they were in the same cage at the shelter so we got them both.
Cat #1 hated them and eventually high-tailed it out of there.
Cats #3 and #4 were both eaten I think... we live in the woods.
Shortly after that, we adopted cats #5 and #6. Brothers!
Cat #5 was probably eaten...
Then a friend gave us cat #7. The first cat that was actually MINE! Slept in my room and loved me the most. Cat #6 hated Cat #7, but then...
Cat #7 died of feline leukima.
Cat #6 was totally depressed and finally slinked off into the woods, never to be seen again.
And then we adopted cat #8 from a coworker. Cat #8 is an indoor cat and still alive!

Oh... and my mom just adopted cat #9 from my grandparents. They have to keep #8 and #9 away from each other during the day and at night because they HATE each other.

We had a cat, a budgie bird, a few turtles, some fish, hamsters for about 3 minutes before they went back.... The cat lasted the longest.

We always had a dog. Then we had one cat too who we got when I was 7. She just died last year. She lived for 20 years!!!!!

We were major pet people. Despite the fact that we lived in small apartments in NY. We had bunnies, cats, a dog, at one point we even had a duck. It was temporary, then off to a farm he went. But it was so great. I want our LO to grow up being exposed to animals.

We had several dogs and cats while I was growing up. We also had fish and an iguana.

I got a cat when I was 5, another cat when I was 7, and a dog when I was 10. All 3 of them lived until I was 21/22.

Also, my sister and I each got a gerbil when we were in elementary school. They were both female, but mine was pregnant before it left the store, apparently. A few weeks later, it had babies...then became paralyzed because of childbirth. My mom felt really bad for the gerbil and took it to the vet to be put to sleep. My sister's gerbil then began lactating and fed the babies! Crazy, huh.

I had a hamster, fish, love bird and dogs.

We always had animals. I remember my first 2 or 3 cats were all named Jasper lol then I got a girl so I called her Jasmine. We had cats, dogs, a goldfish, 2 horses, a cow at one time, bunny rabbits, chickens, we had a potbelly pig, and another big that we ate...., we had a couple goats at one time and also we had three llamas my grandma got for free, did I mention they weren't trained! They would always try and spit at us, I even tried to ride one once but I fell off in a mud puddle haha good times! I'd say I got my share or taking care of pets and having responsibilities! Since I live in town now I'm thinking our kids will maybe get a dog if they want, we already have a cat.

Before we came to MI, we used to have rabbits, ducks, 1 puppy in Korea. Then we moved here and didn't have any pets, besides goldfish. My mom didn't want pets in a townhome and so we never had any pets in MI. Until DH got me Bailey, our beagle terrier, in 2007. (:
