...had the brilliant idea to sell children's socks in sets where EVERY PAIR IS A DIFFERENT COLOR (or pattern)?!?!
What's wrong with selling a 6-pack of all white socks?

I buy Hanes with grippies for LO. They're all different patterns, but the patterns are like white with no stripe, white with one stripe, white with two stripes, gray with blue stripes, and I can get on board with him having a white sock with no stripe paired with a white sock with two stripes

@honeybear: there is some sick person out there that hates new parents. We have white carters socks for LO1 now but they get grungy so fast.

@honeybear: ugh I just said the same thing last weekend. Drives me crazy!!

I really like the Circo ankle socks from Target. Some of the only ones I've found that come in packs of all white. They do run small, though.

Haha! MiL gifted LO some white socks and I hate them - too easy to lose in the wash (they blend in with the machine). I'll take the colors and patterns, please!

I actually love this. The whole family wears patterned socks. We very rarely have sock disappearing issues.

We have a rule in our house... baby socks cannot be more than two feet apart from each other at any time.

Huh? I love colorful & patterned socks probably because I like plain clothes. Socks make the outfit pop!

Same as @Mrs. Lemon-Lime. I honestly don't even understand what the complaint is. LO has plain white socks, but she only wears them when all her cute ones are dirty.

haha, you can find white ones! They have them at Walmart, Target, etc.
And Xander likes wearing mismatched socks.

@lamariniere: Me too, our household is all coloured/patterned socks all the time.

Add me to the group that buys the colorful socks...my son wears them mismatched, it's like some crazy game to him to choose the most mismatched pairings.
None of us wear white socks, though. It's either gray or black, or crazy patterns.

@Applesandbananas: @lawbee11: @nana87: Thanks for the suggestions! I will check those out.
@Corduroy: @lady baltimore: I totally have the grungy white sock issue, too (for the one or two white pairs that came with the sets of multicolored socks...). Maybe gray socks? Gray socks could be the solution! Sock-producers of the world: Where are the multi-packs of gray socks?!
@lamariniere: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: In theory I'm with you. Patterns and colors are awesome! But in practice, matching up socks feels to me like an activity that belongs in some special circle of Hell.

@looch: Please tell me where you buy gray socks!
@Adira: Are there gray socks at these places? I don't get to Walmart or Target often, but I will look!
Thank you, everyone!

@honeybear: I'm not positive about a whole set of grey socks, but the next time in either store, I'll check!

@honeybear: Amazon, where I buy pretty much everything else, or Walmart.

I hate white socks or plain colored socks.
I don't know how else to describe it other then OCD... But I go OCD on socks. They have to be matched perfectly. The pattern, they wear, the amount of washing, stretching etc. I often end up throwing out socks because they no longer match perfectly. I no longer buy plain colored socks for myself. My husband does but after the last time I tried sorting his socks and it caused a mini anxiety attack I no longer touch his socks. Wearing mismatched socks stresses me out. I can't do it and it bothers me to see other people doing it.
My husband has already been told he can match all the baby socks that are plain colored once we start having baby socks everywhere!

I pretty much do all white baby socks all the time. And I've also gotten really frustrated with finding only crazy colorful patterns at the store. But I dress my kid in fairly colorful and patterned pants/tops, so finding matching socks is just stressful.

I actually prefer the colored toes/heels versus an all white sock. It makes it so much easier to pair the socks up correctly with its real mate (a sock that should have even wear and tear to it).

I actually only started wearing matching socks after I got married because my husband complained that it made him stressed because of OCD sock issues. Before that I'd just wear two of the same style and never worried about matching. I imagine that's what's going to end up happening with my kids.
I come from a family of four kids and growing up we had a "sock basket" that had all the kid socks and if you needed socks that's where you'd go. Probably once a month someone would match and fold all the socks and deliver them to each person. It honestly never occurred to me until I got married that socks needed to match!

I hated all baby socks because of their tendency to disappear until I figured out a great trick - I keep one of those mesh delicates bags with LO's hamper and I throw all the socks in there. That way they all stay together in the wash and don't get lost!

They do exist! Sometimes I also have luck at places like Marshall's.

@Dahlia: I do the same! The washing machine was literally eating them, we found out when we had a back up and it was baby socks in the hose.

@RKitty: Thank god I am not the only one. My DH has all plain black socks with logo but the logo changes every couple of months/seasons and I refuse to put them together. I only own socks were I can tell 100% which sock goes with which My kids own mainly colorful and patterned socks and no more than 3 of the same type

@RKitty: @Pumuckl: hello OCD friends, I'm joining the club! I cannot stand to have matching socks that are unequally clean or dirty, stretched or worn. So if you have 3 pairs of white socks and they are varying shades of white, with varying signs of wear, you can't just randomly match them up! The wear has to be the same! Gah! I'm glad I'm not the only one.

@Boogs: Thank you!! Amazon is always the answer, isn't it?
@Dahlia: I tried this idea for a while, but I discovered that I have an "input" problem. My family is pretty good about sorting other clothes, but the socks never got put into the bag! I should try again, maybe with a sock-only basket next to the regular clothes basket like @tofuwad: suggested (great idea, thanks!), and then I can dump them into a delicate bag before I wash.
@RKitty: @Pumuckl: @lamariniere: So, despite the current state of my laundry situation, I totally get where you ladies are coming from. I can totally tell if one sock is thinner/more worn than another!
Thanks to everyone for the helpful suggestions!!

All of our baby's socks are patterned which made for a rough first week when 1 of each pair would always end up folded in a shirt or towel for days before we found it. Now we but her socks (and anything else small or Velcro) in a lingerie bag which solved the problem for us.

@honeybear: No kidding, I don't know what we did before Amazon.
