I'm going to a saturday early evening wedding at the beginning of my third trimester, and it is outside on grass. The bride's family has warned everyone to be careful with heels, and given that i'll be very pregnant, i'd like to take that warning very seriously! but I'm wondering what shoes are pregnancy approved but wedding acceptable? Should i wear ballet flats? or is that too casual? I'm not 100% on a dress yet but the ones i'm looking at are reasonably dressy.
Any recommendations?

Long dress or short dress?
I wore sparkly ballet flats under a long dress to my brother's wedding, it was outside and my son was 18 months old.
Short dress, I'd go with wedges?

I think ballet flats can be totally chic and are 100% acceptable to wear to a wedding (pregnant or not!)

YAY, i'm glad you guys think ballet flats are acceptable! i was also thinking about wedges but was a little worried about my balance, especially if i am dancing (i haven't worn heels in months!)

I think it sounds like they expect your shoes to be somewhat casual. Especially when pregnant I'm a comfort over beauty when it comes to shoes, you don't want to be miserable at the wedding!

Ballet flats or if it's hot out dressy sandals! If you get sparkly ones they are nice enough to wear for an outdoor wedding!

I actually really like the idea of sandals, in case my feet are swollen around then...but i don't think i own any i could wear, so i'd have to go shopping!
@lamariniere: so i have this dress, but will have to try it on in a few weeks to see if it is comfortable (it is a size too big and the material is super stretchy, but you just never know how it will fall in a few weeks!) the wedding is in 3.5 weeks, so i might be huge by then

@Pirouette: I like it! It is fancier than what I was imagining, so I wouldn't do ballet flats. I would go with sandals or wedges.

@lamariniere: thanks! it's probably a good time of year to find a deal on some sandals! it's a tad dressier than what i wanted, but I figured i'd rather be over than underdressed.

I agree with lamariniere... Ballet flats are far too casual for that dress. I've personally never had an issue with heels on grass, but if you're nervous then I would absolutely find a pair of sparkly sandals. Wedges would be too clunky (in truth, I think that dress needs a strappy high heel) so that's probably your only option. NO fancy flip flops though- try to find something that looks like an evening shoe.

@Pink Champagne: yea, i wouldn't wear flip flops (though i'd love to 
) hmm, now i'm thinking maybe i should look for a more casual dress to accommodate a more casual shoe...seems backwards but i really don't think i'll feel comfortable in a strappy heel - apparently the grass at the venue tends to be more muddy, so heels can really dig in. i do have a backup dress that's still dressy enough but slightly less so, and maybe that would be better...i don't have any pics of it though.

Last time i went to an outdoor grassy wedding, the bride herself wore white ballet flats.
I think with that dress, black flats would be plenty appropriate. I think silver dressy sandals would be super cute too
