What kinds of clothes did you dress your newborn in the first few weeks (until the umbilical stump fell off really)? Are one piece sleepers and onesies ok?

She wore sleepers or convertible gowns. They seemed less irritating than pants.

We had a few side snap shirts which won't irritate the umbilical cord and some pants. The shirts are also good because you sont have to pull it over their wobbly heads. Gowns are great too, in general...easy diaper changes. Carters sells these convertible gowns that can turn into a footie without the feet that I love...but they only sell them as part of a set.

sleepers!
mommy confession: he still wears sleepers 95% of the time and he's 3 months old. shhhhhhhhh.

We've had her purely in sleepers so far-so easy and comfy for her. Itching to get her into a cute dress though!

Sleepers are easy (though as new parents we're struggling with snaps - zippers are probably even easier). When we're home, we are just using a diaper and keeping him swaddled in a Halo sleep sack - it's been snowing, and he's super happy to be wrapped up tightly. He's also worn a hat almost 24/7.

Gowns, side snap shirts, leg warmers and zipper sleepers.

I'm planning on just side snap shirts and a diaper under a swaddle blanket at night, and gowns/sleepers during the day.

Gowns and sleepers, some onesies. Stuff I could mostly put on feet-first so I didn't have to pull it over her little wobbly neck.

LO lived in sleepers the first few weeks. I didn't like gowns, they always rode up on her.

He was small- 6 lbs at birth- and the only thing that fit him were those white Gerber onesies. He didn't even wear pants. We almost always had him swaddled though, and it was August, so it was hot.

LO wore onesies only. We pretty much stayed at home and she had a blanket around her.

@mamabolt: LO only wore the gowns if my mom or I dressed her. If DH had her for any amount of time he would change her. He HATES the gowns!

My child wore sleepers most of the time until she was more mobile - around 6 months. It was winter, and I wasn't interested in wrestling a lot of clothing for frequent diaper changes.

sleepers, onesies and the feetie pants.
target sells some packages of gerber side-snap onesies (as opposed to just the shirt) which are great! they kept her belly warm but didn't have to pull them over her head. win win.

He wore onesies and pants with a hat for the first few weeks. They were the things that fit best.
