I hyphenated my name.
Now, I'm Crystal Middle HisLast-MyLast
He did the same thing. ️

@Crystal: That is awesome! Is he HisLast-YourLast or YourLast-HisLast?

I kept my name. I'm considering hyphenating it socially after we have kids, but I won't ever change it legally. I use my maiden name professionally and always plan to. The one time I used my married name (even though I didn't change it anywhere), is with dinner reservations. His name is just much easier--it's only 5 letters and the name of a bird, and mine is 10 letters and French.

Kept my own name. DH would have liked me to change it but the only way that was happening was if he changed, too, and he vetoed that (not sure what exactly we'd have both changed to because discussions never got that far). DD has his last name, but mine is her middle name so they're both on her birth certificate, passport, etc.

Kept my name. Which was a blessing in disguise since I would have had to change it back 2 years later. And now I live in a province where you aren't allowed to change, so, yay!

I dropped my maiden, my married name has 11 letters and my maiden had 7 way too long to hyphenate, and my middle name is a family name.

I didn't have a middle name so I moved my maiden name as my middle name and took on my hubby's last name because I grew super duper attached to my maiden name. 6 months after I changed my name, I was okay with just being a two name person again. Having 3 is a lil weird after having only 2 for 24 years. ha!

I dropped my middle name (gave it to DD) and kept my maiden name as a middle name and took DH's last name.
It would have been fine with DH if I kept my entire name. My mom kept hers so both options have always seemed normal to me. I'm so glad to have had the choice!

Completely dropped my maiden name and kept my middle name. I hated my maiden name and it sounded super awkward with my first name so it was for the best

I had 2 middle names, one of which was my mothers maiden name. I dropped her maiden name, put my maiden name as the second middle name and took Dhs last name.
So I'm:
Charm54 Middlename Maidenname Lastname

I kept all of them, so now I have four names. It's a pain but my maiden name is important to me...and I go by a nickname of my middle name and it seemed dumb to drop my first name. Ha.
At the SS office, I made my middle name and maiden name my "middle names." So it's like this:
First name: First name
Middle name: Middle name Maiden name
Last name: Married name
Sounds weird but it's what worked for us.

I made no change to my name. DH didn't expect me to change my name, which was good since I didn't plan on changing it!

I changed my last name. My state doesn't make it easy to change your middle.

I dropped my middle and kept maiden as the middle. Because the initials were better that way If we ever have a girl, she'll have my original middle name as her middle name, too. It is still really special to me, just not legally part of my name any more.

Dropped my middle. Which they fought with me about at the SS office but luckily I'd researched ahead and knew the rules and to fight it. So I'm First Maiden Last. Although I still use my (former) middle name professionally because it is the name of my business!

I kept my maiden but use dh's name a lot (emails, some daycare stuff). I def dot get offense if anyone calls me mrs. T***i. It's funny though because my MAIDEN name sounds so so much like dh's name.

Same as @mfa_lady.
First Name
Middle Name Maiden Name
Last Name
Five years later? I wish I had just dropped the maiden name. It doesn't matter so much to me anymore.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
I use his name but for my writing I use both my maiden and his last name.
pineapple / 12566 posts
I dropped my maiden name and took his last. I've never regretted the decision and had no attachment to my maiden name.

@oliviaoblivia: 5 names is awesome
I dropped my maiden name because his last name was shorter and I have a long first name and maiden name. It's stupid but it's so much easier to fill out forms/etc lol
papaya / 10560 posts
Moved maiden to middle, I go by maiden middle professionally, but just married for everything else.
pineapple / 12526 posts
I kept my maiden name. I go by a hyphenated (Myname Maiden-Married) last name on social media.

Dropped my maiden name only as I am attached to middle name and hope to pass it on to a daughter if I have one. Plus maiden last name is 3 syllables...

Added his last name to mine, so now I'm Rocker Middle MyLast-HisLast. Realistically, I NEVER use HisLast and professionally and socially still introduce myself as Rocker MyLast. My husband doesn't care, but both our families would have been flabbergasted if I didn't take it at all - they're very traditional. And both our families insist on only calling me Rocker HisLast, which is funny since they're the only ones who do!

@MaryM: I was so excited to become a Mc when I took D's name!
I dropped my middle, moved up my maiden and took D's name.

My maiden name is now my middle name. If we have another girl I'll give her my given middle name.

Wow, I didn't even know dropping your middle name was a thing? It seems pretty common! Haven't heard of people doing that in Canada.
Oh, and I took DH's last name. But totally wish I had kept my maiden name as well. I love it, and will definitely incorporate it into my next child's name.

No name change here. I already have four names (2middles) and want to deal with the hassle. Plus, it's not common in my husband's culture for the woman to change her name. When I asked him (unenthusiastically) if he wanted me to change my last name he looked at me like I was a big weirdo.
