At 5 weeks LO started drooling everywhere. I was surprised to find out that saliva glands don't start working until then and he was not teething one month into life 
Since all the saliva was so new he was not aware that he should swallow it, so he looked like he was constantly foaming at the mouth. It's also when their tear ducts start working and real tears fall from their eyes. It was sad the first time I saw that as well.

The baby acne that popped up at 4 weeks was pretty surprising to me - he broke out so bad!

They are WAY more likeable than I thought! I was sure I would love my baby, but I wasn't sure I would like her. Turns out, I REALLY like her! I guess overall, I've learned it truly IS different when it's yours.

Even though I kind of knew it wasn't... I was surprised it wasn't cuteness and love and wonderful EVERY. DAY.
I am surprised at how many times I'm like dude this sucks. lol it's not always easy to LOVE being a mom every second haha!
right now Cobi is teething... so I had one of those days

that you can see thier soft spot on their head pulse.....ya i thought their was something wrong with my baby. i told my dad and he laughed soooo hard at me. nieve mommy here

@junebugmama: oh really? how old is your LO? yeah... Cobi is usually the sweetest, happiest, laid back, chill baby. And the last two days he hasn't napped and been cranky every waking minute. He's really having trouble sleeping tonight too... the poor dear!

So far I've been amused by how much he farts and how many facial expressions he has. He has a Blue Steel: he pulls away and gives me when he's nursing...lips pursed, eyebrows raised and turns his head to the right...then the left.

@futuremrsmck: omg does your lo fart all the time to? mine does it in his sleep, whens he eating, really anytime...and there so freaking loud, sounds like a grown man fart. geez boys....

@turtledoves: ya its really weird, it looks like a beating rhymic movement beating on top of their head...... freaked me the heck out at first! i knew about soft spots but never that. things they dont tell you in baby books!

@stargal: Omg all.the.time. I actually asked the pedi if it was normal because it happens so often! It's pretty funny, though...today E was napping in our bed and DH was pretending to nibble on his thighs and E farted on his head. DH had a very (purposely exaggerated) comedic reaction, and I just about died laughing. Totally woke the little dude up, but so worth it.

Don't laugh but I was surprised that I had to help the belly button cord stump come off. I was just swabbing it with a cotton ball but the pediatrician showed me (2 weeks later) that I should use a q-tip to get in there to dry it out.
How much this little snorting, farting, bad sleeper can frustrate me and make me love her more than anything else in the world, all at the same time.
