One of my closest friends is pregnant with a girl. But her sister has 1 year old triplets, and two are girls, so she has all the baby gear she needs. They are both also little fashionistas so they have clothes galore.
If you were in her situation, what fun, baby related gifts -- that typically don't go on a registry -- would you want to receive?

hmm..I love making baskets for people. I got a baby-basket from my mom for my shower, but for my SIL's shower a few years back, I made her a basket and her baby one.
In hers - I put a dunkin donuts gift card (now I'd probably do k-cups), some "nice" shampoo (i think it was biolage??), burt's bees chapstick, a little 4-pack of mini wine bottles, etc.
In the baby's - little noses, little fevers, etc., a package of soothies, little odds and ends..teethers and carseat toys, rattles, a travel pack of wipes, etc

Books and toys - we didn't register for either because we figured people would buy both. And we only got a few of each.
I also liked all the "toiletries" we received - I don't think we'll ever need to buy baby shampoo, lotion or desitin!

Do you know the baby's name? You could do a custom blanket that has her name embroidered on it. Or anything custom with even her last name, a piggy bank, bag, ect. that is "her" own.

and personalized book plates...i actually love personalized things in general. i know that's sometimes it's tricky to my decor-ish items in case it might clash with the nursery, but things like bookplates or vintage alphabet blocks spelling out the baby's name are always fun!

Something for the mom. I gave my sister a Victoria Secret's gift card for her baby shower because after being in maternity panties for so long I felt she might like something new and "fancy" for herself (maybe not so relevant to people who can wear VS underwear throughout their entire pregnancy).

Gift for mom!
My best friend just met up with me for lunch and gave me a gift 2 weeks ago....she said "I completely ignored you registry"...and instead she got me a $200 giftcard to a spa & salon....Um, I love her! After I have baby I am going to get a pedi and a haircut!

One of my friends made me a scrapbook. She put stickers in it with baby things and my LO's name, so all I had to do was print up some photos of LO and stick them in. It was nice because I didn't have time to make up a pretty album of my own.

* A gift certificate for Mixbook or some other photo book making site
* A session with a professional photographer
* A session with a personal trainer (I'd love this, but I guess it could be an insult?)

I received a jar of Loccitane skin firming cream from my brother's girlfriend and I love it! I was able to use it immediately and it's something I wouldn't have bought for myself. I think jewelry is nice too. Like those rings or necklaces with LO's initials. And of course, gift cards!! Oh and gift certificates for a massage or mani/pedi's are nice too.
