It's a slow week post-wise, so I need to write some posts! For some reason when we have a ton of posts, I have a million ideas. Then when I need to write one, I don't know what to write about!

I agree with @Mrsjets: on manners! What manners are important for your family and which ones you don't stress.
Other ideas:
-Why you made the decision to be done after 2 kids
-A post about starting a website or blog (there are a lot of blogging mamas here!)
-What you miss about life pre-kids
-A clothes post (love their style!)
-What you are working on teaching each of them at their ages, is Charlie working on reading, etc

I'm curious what you guys eat when you are out at a restaurant. I know that you cook at home a lot and are gluten free. What are your kids eating when you do go out? Are you trying to stay within your normal diet, or do they get to have mac n cheese?

i've just been putting olive mostly in these 2 pair of old navy shoes because they're cute and soft. but robeez or pedipeds are a good bet!

@T-Mom: our local mexican joint has a rotisserie chicken and chicken soup that the kids love. japanese and korean food tends to be gluten-free because it's rice, veggies, and meat/fish. diners always have eggs, sausage, bacon, and fruit! we were letting gluten sneak back in on weekends (chinese, pizza), but recently i recommitted to being completely gluten-free because of olive's constipation issues.

@Mrs. Bee: can gluten be a cause of constipation?
M hasn't been backed up but it's been pretty firm. I've been giving prune juice and it's helped some.

@regberadaisy: a lot of people with celiac disease/gluten sensitivity suffer from chronic constipation. i've been reading up on it and a lot of people find relief from constipation by eliminating gluten:

it's also why i eliminated dairy from her diet (dairy is one of the biggest causes of constipation).
we give her lots of prune juice, but she still has infrequent, painful stools. i think the cause is that she doesn't drink enough liquids. i try to get her to, but she's stubborn!

I'd love a post on what mealtimes are like when going out with the kids to a restaurant. How do you get them to behave, eat their food, etc. Also, what do you bring so that you're prepared?

all of the friends I have with children will not take them out to eat, probably due to added stress. I'd like to think we could figure out how to deal with it so we can go out to eat with others. Maybe I'm being unreasonably optimistic!

Forgive me if you've already written something about this... But I would love to see your feelings on internet privacy when blogging about your kids. I thought about blogging for a while but then sort of decided I didn't think my baby would like it down the road. For our generation it was all about how embarrassing it is when your parents pull out those old home videos of you in the tub as a baby. I can't imagine if my mom had such a detailed record of my childhood that friends or significant others could read! I find it especially interesting in your family because from what I can tell it seems like Mr Bee is very concerned about internet privacy (not saying his first name, not being in any photos, etc). I hope that doesn't come off as judgemental, just a genuine curiousity that I've been wanting to ask you guys about but didn't want to sound rude/weird.

@illumina: It's definitely doable, and we were able to do it without any problems for a good part of the first year. Our biggest hurdles were her awake times, so it was hardest around the 5-6 month mark because she wasn't able to fall asleep in the infant seat.

@MamaMoose: this is something that's been on my mind for quite some time, and i have been blogging less about charlie and olive and more about general parenting topics instead.
when they were babies i was ok with sharing more about them, but now that they are getting older, there are certain things that i feel are their story to share and not mine. as they get older, i will definitely share less and less about them.
i'm not sure if i'll write a whole post dedicated to my thoughts because there are a lot of people that believe that if you blog or put yourself on the internet, you deserve any criticism and attacks that you receive. i don't want to open up a debate on it since charlie and olive are involved and my skin is thinner when it comes to them!
i have really been missing blogging though, so recently i've considered starting a private password protected blog for family and close friends only. maybe that's a good compromise for you?

@Freckles: @illumina: we don't bring anything. generally they are pretty good because we don't eat out often, so it's a special treat!
we do small things to keep them entertained, like the game where you stack your hands on top of each other's over and over. playing with the straws, eating ice. i don't know if i have enough tips for a post but i will think about it!

@Freckles: I don't know if this is at all helpful but what helped us the most was practicing at home every night during dinner time and making mealtimes fun fun fun! We also showed him that even if people are eating, we sit and wait until everyone is done. This was a long process but it worked for us.
Even now, we do things that make him crack up at the meal table (silly faces, fun stories). For my son, he's more of a visual learner so he has to see things, rather than just hear things. So as much as we said over and over "Sit down. Finish your food. No, no, you have to sit and eat" none of that worked as well as visually showing him HOW we eat at the table. Distractions only worked short-term for us. He had to be literally taught and shown how meal times work with our family.
Sorry to thread jack. I just thought about this because last night my son refused to leave the dinner table and my husband was saying how much he had grown from the kid who couldn't sit in his high chair for more than 10 seconds.
