How many people do you have in your family? We have a 68 gallon size right now, but I'm considering exchanging it for the 32 gallon size. But, I'm not sure this is realistic for our family of 3?

We have the smallest size available, it fits a standard black garbage bag every two weeks. You pay more here the bigger the can. We also get green bin collection weekly and bi-weekly recycling (biggest can). It's amazing how much waste you can actually divert!

@Banana330: Awesome! If we switch to the smaller size, I want to sign us up for curbside recycling (instead of taking it to the recycling center that has more limited hours). It's $10 a month, which I'd feel better about spending if we can exchange our garbage can for a smaller one (reducing the cost).

96 gallon garbage tote that is about 1/2 full each week. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kiddos...one in disposable diapers).
We also have a 96 gallon recycle tote and that is overflowing every week.

@winter_wonder: You can also buy bag tags for if you go over your garbage allotment. For $10 I would totally have someone pick up my recycling! (ours gets picked up and I'm not sure I could be bothered to take it somewhere).
