I'm just curious what SPF your LO's sunscreen is. I've heard anything over 30 SPF isn't necessary but I don't know how true that is. The girls use 50 SPF which seems to be pretty standard for most kids lotions. I have noticed some of the more natural ones are around 30 SPF.

30, although i've put 50 on him as well. as long as it's at least 30, then i'm fine with it, and focus more on how easy application is and the EWG rating (full disclosure i don't go for EWG ratings of 1 or 2, i just go for 4 or lower).

I'm using blue lizard this summer and I believe it's 30.

My usual go to is 50. I have a Thinkbaby one that 100, I think, but it's harder to get on him. I figure with going to daycare, the longer it protects him for the better. They only re-apply once in the afternoon.

I think 50. I thought I'd heard that it was over 50 that was all the same, but not sure where I got that. I know that my husband researched sunscreens for, like, 10 hours before picking the one we have.

50. In general I subscribe to the "anything over 30 is all the same" philosophy, but Babyganics is natural and readily available.

Above 30 there is still some benefit, above 50 it's only tiny differences. The AAP is working on a proposal to eradicate sunscreen above 50 because the UVA vs UVB balance is off and it gives a false sense of security.
Our LO's is 50 and I use 30 for myself.

50. I know they say over 30 is pointless, but the one time I used 30 on DD (for less than 2 hours!) she got burnt.

The one I'm using on them right now is 50, but I have used between 30-50 and felt they were all fine. With our timing and nap schedules it's rare that we would be out in the sun long enough to need to reapply anyway. Like @edelweiss: I care more about how easy it is to apply. If I can't apply it easily I'm more likely to miss a spot and end up wth SPF 0 there.
For myself I try to use at least 30 when we will be out in the sun.

30. We have fair skin/burn easily. 30 is totally adequate. You just need to reapply after swimming or a few hours. And you have to make sure to use enough!
