Haha that's pretty funny!

I'm surprised she was born with hair!!! I was bald till about 5 so I was convinced she would be as well.
When I started crowning and they told me she had hair I did not believe them! I made them bring the mirror.

I was mostly shocked by how dark his skin is. DH and I both have fathers with darker skin, but because of our Mom's we are a lighter. He came out looking just like our Dad's including a thick head of black hair.

She had tons of hair!

I'm surprised at how fussy and unhappy she seems most of the time. I feel like DH and I are fairly relaxed people so it's surprising to me that she came out so fussy.

Also I thought shed belonged because DH is 6'4". She was only 19.75" at birth.

That she looks so much like her father. It's like I gave birth to my DH's 30-years-younger-twin. I did want her to have his eyebrows (since mine were horrendously bushy as a child) and she has that, but dang, look a little like me, too!

how easy of a baby he is. I can't say I expected a troubled child, but I never expected a baby that NEVER cries (unless he's tired, which then is usually my fault). He is SO happy all the time, and if not necessarily happy, just so content, mellow and totally chill. He's so great. Everyone comments about it - even complete strangers in the store.

Also I wasn't necessarily surprised per se as much as disappointed that he was nearly bald, and still has next to no hair. I really really didn't want a bald baby!!

I was surprised that he really has none of my traits. He is sooo similar to DH's baby pics, and the only thing that is like me is his fair skin. Otherwise he looks like he belongs to another mommy!

This isn't me, but my husband was SHOCKED by the cone-head effect when my son was born - he said he imagined it "coneheads, the movie, style" whereas our sons head coned backward....he literally said afterwards that he was afraid to tell me right away how worried he was - thought something was wrong because he looked like I had slept with a martian

Before my LO I was never one to hold new-newborns... they terrified me. I had this idea in my head that they were these fragile, limp little beings... but my daughter had such head control and strength from day one. That really surprised me... actually I'm still unclear as to whether my expectations were just off, or LO was an independent girlie early on, hah!
