@ALV91711: this year we get home at 4:30 and it is AMAZING. Last year we got home at 5:45. It was incredibly, incredibly difficult. Especially as a single parent. But we don't have much wiggle because we leave at 6:40 every morning, so I'm up before 5:30 and the kids have to get up at 6.

@MrsSRS: getting home at 4:30 would be awesome! That is a pretty early day though.

I'm trying to pull back from the later summer bedtime, but we try to head up at 8 and be asleep by 8:30... i'd love bedtime to be right at 8, but it's a struggle when we get home at 6 after sports and work to do dinner and get some time to hang out.

@hellobeeboston: I’m worried about the time crunch in the evening. I go back to work tomorrow. So far 7:30 has been doable since I’m home to get dinner ready early. Tomorrow we’ll all be home by about 5. Got to have dinner, get the baby to bed then get DS1 to bed. Going to be interesting.

My first grader is in bed with lights out between 8:15 and 8:30. I’d love to get him into bed much earlier, but it’s really hard. Plus he has soccer practice until 7:30 one night per week (wtf).

I don't know how you all do it! Sometimes my 1st grader and preschooler are in bed by 9, but not always. Everyone is out the door by 7am, but they probably only get up about 15 min before that. I get home with the kids by about 5:45, my husband around 6:45, but we're barely getting dinner together and eaten before 7:30, much less baths/showers and bed.

@Alba4: that is a late practice!
@shabang: I’ve been going to bed at 9 most nights! Lol! DS1 gets a shower every other night and the baby gets 1-2 baths a week. The evenings are rushed but we try to make the best of it.

My kids adjusted right back into school schedule. They are in bed by 7:50 and usually totally asleep by 8. Tonight I had to work really late (I'm still here actually--UGH) and I called around 7:45 to say goodnight and my husband said they were already asleep!
My 4 year old is still waking around 6-6:10 each morning. The 6 year old sleeps till around 6:30-6:40. They both have really busy schedules this year, so I think they are tuckered out between school, and dance/soccer/gymnastics/theater/chess after school.

@Anagram: The first week DS woke up early every day, probably because he was excited. Now I have to wake him most days at 6:30. He’s in bed about 7:30 and most nights asleep right away.

Yeah, we both fall asleep with the kids (me with the baby, him with the 3yo/6yo). Just can't seem to make the weekday evenings anything but a mad rush!

@shabang: it is so crazy & hectic. I’m sure as they get older and they can do more for themselves it will get a little less crazy.

@Beebeeholiday: I wish we could sleep that late in the morning, we leave about 7:15.
