Our son is learning to read, and we used to have him read books mostly at night (our usual time for reading to him). But I've noticed that reading can be draining, so I've been trying to schedule reading time into the day here and there. That way, he can work through a few pages here and there - rather than having to do a bunch all at once.
If your kids are learning to read, what time of day do you practice reading with them?

Is reading fun for him or is it a chore? Is it something you could work in right when you get home from work so you can get the biggest portions out of the way and then do some fun reading before bed?

Bedtime - but books have always been our routine so it kinda flows well - but now he reads 1 book and I read one.
He loves to read his Star Wars books so its not a chore for him -

She reads to me after sis goes to bed. It's the only time we really have.

We usually do her homework, which involves reading, first thing in the morning. She's not drained from the school day and she can power through it really quickly. And then she likes to practice reading on her own before she falls asleep.
