A and I are accompanying my husband on a work trip to Charleston. Any recommendations on what we should do/see/eat while there? I've never been, so I'm open to any tips or info!

I love hominy grill for brunch, magnolia for steak/dinner, jestines for low country food. If you are going out for drinks I really like proof- they have some great specialty cocktails. Hubs hit fort Sumter the last time we were there but I like walking around downtown by the market and shopping

Ahhh! My favorite place on the world I got married there and my mom lives there.
Favorite king st. Shops:
Hampden clothing
Copper penny
Worthwhile
There's one closer to Calhoun but I can't remember the name!
EAT!
Hominey grill for breakfast
Ansons (double fried French fries in Bernaise sauce!!!)
Chop steakhouse (best steak of my life)
Husk - go to the bar for cool drinks
Cru cafe has great lunch. We love the owners and eat here literally everyday
East bay deli an bull street market are second lunch favorites
Do:
Go to the slave market
Take a carriage tour
Take a walking tour (we thought a night time haunted one was fun)
Go see some of the plantations -Middleton place, magnolia, Boone hall and drayton hall
Go to the beach!
Run/walk the bridge for a good 5 mile workout and awesome view
Have fun!

@luckypenny: btw we are staying downtown but I don't know how walkable stuff is, especially if it's hot with a baby. Any hints or tips on parking?

@aprk: super walkable! Parking is kind of a nightmare but do able. But I never really venture out of downtown so I think walkin is fine

One of my favorite places!! Definitely take a walking tour, a carriage tour, and the harbor boat tour. You will LOVE it!! Gorgeous city!

Wander King St, I second the carriage tour! Also if you will be there on a Sat they have a fantastic farmers market in the square off king st that has to s of food vendors and booths and families out with their LOs. They even have a couple of cute baby/children's clothes vendors.
My favorite 2 restaurants are actually not fancy at all. They're just fun places w/really good food. Kickin Chicken (best wings and chicken ever!) and LaHa Mexican, both on King. LaHa has a ridiculous cheap happy hour that I think starts at 4 everyday.
We are moving there next month- ha!

Charleston is one of those cities that you can just mosey around and have a lot of fun.. Just tinkering around as my DH and I call it. It's so fun to just walk around and lookat everything and stop here and there for some good food and a drink:)

Love it there! We go every few years to Kiawah Island nearby and will be going again at the end of July, I can't wait!!
My biggest travel advice is not to pack your days too tight if you have your baby with you. I usually only get 1/4 of what I planned done before wearing out and giving up.
Like everyone says, you can walk around there for a long time and not get bored.
The Market is one of my favorite places
Hominy Grill is fantastic!
Charleston Riverdogs is a great minor league baseball experience
Angel Oak is amazing, a huge ancient oak tree outside of town
South Carolina Aquarium- I'm excited to take our little guy here!
The haunted walking tours are lots of fun, but may not be feasible with a baby

Excuse the obviousness but I think you should do the Charleston in Charleston! Hehehe
Dunno, I've never been. DH says Fort Sumter, Middleton Place, Battery Park, the USS Yorktown, and tons more.
