We're going on a 3-week family vacation to France next week and I'm starting to put together our packing lists. My husband and I are generally light packers and we try to fit everything into a backpack along with a couple of daypacks when we travelled in the past... But I don't know how much clothing to bring for my 10 month old! Any suggestions?
The temperature will vary between 10 to 25 degrees Celcius.

Do you have easy access to laundry facilities? Are you trying to fit all of LO's stuff into one backpack, as well?
Off the top of my head I'd say:
4 long pants
4 tops
2 lightweight pants
1 sweater
1 heavier jacket/coat
1 lighter jacket
Rotate and launder every few days? I have no idea, I've never traveled that long with LO!

@RUBIES: We do have laundry facilities so I'm thinking of packing about a week's worth of clothes? LO has his own suitcase. Haha

I am an overpacker, but I prefer to be prepared rather than wandering the streets looking for stores while on vacation. I would bring enough for one outfit per day, plus 2 extra outfits, in case your LO is a messy eater. Then I'd probably be packing a lot of entertainment stuff, because my son wasn't so interested in sightseeing at that age.

I'm a total overpacked for LO. I would pack 2 outfits per day for 3 days. 2 sets of pjs. Since you're packing light for yourselves, you'll be doing laundry every few days anyway.

@LOOCH: My LO is the messiest eater ever, so extra extra outfits are in order.
@Weagle: 2 outfits/day for 2 days sounds reasonable.

@emahlee: maybe also plan to have some spare clothes and extra diapers and necessities in your carryon... Since losing luggage is so much worse on an international flight (happened to me on Italy, it was so horrible)!

We traveled to France for 3 weeks when our son was 7 months old. I packed about 10 days worth of clothes with both warm and cool weather options. Since we mostly stayed with my in-laws laundry was not a problem. We also received clothes as gifts for our little man upon arrival, so we had plenty.

@t-mom: Thanks for the tip- lost luggage didn't even cross my mind!! I just redid my carry-on list to include some extra clothes and necessities for LO.
@lamariniere: ooh! Since you were actually there with a LO, do you mind if I ask you a few questions? I'm still breastfeeding exclusively with the intention of dropping some feeds while in France (to prepare me/baby for my return to work in a few weeks). I've read that the French think breastfeeding is "faux pas" in France. Would if make people uncomfortable if I did nurse in public?

@emahlee: breastfeeding, is absolutely NOT a faux pas in France. My son wasn't eating tons of solids while we were there and he was EBF for everything else. As far as I can tell after having lived in France and visited extensively, you should be completely fine with public breastfeeding. I definitely was ok with it. I mean, this is the country where large news kiosks regularly depict topless photos of women and no one bats an eyelash.
