Baby book, if you want to have the footprints stamped.

Haven't been there done that yet, but just a thought. Pack your hospital bag as if you're going into hospital for a couple of days - my idea being that it will act as prevention (kind of like if you carry an umbrella it won't rain, the day you forget it it rains cats and dogs...).

I mean you never know what might happen, baby's don't always arrive the way we plan, and that way you'll be comfortable that you have everything you and they need, and almost guaranteed you won't actually need it

I'll post a list of what's in mine:

Robe
Fuzzy non slip socks
2 pairs of pajama pants
2 loose fitting t shirts
One pair of yoga pants (going home)
One fitted (but still comfy) tshirt (going home)
Breast pads
All travel size toiletries I need to shower
Flip flops for showering
Large undies (8 pairs I think. Lol)
2 nursing bras
Hair dryer
Contact case and solution
One change of comfy clothes for DH for sleeping (we live close to the hospital so he will do all his showers and changes at home)
Blanket to go over the car seat when we take LO home (it'll be cold!)
Three different baby boy outfits to come home in in different sizes. Newborn, 0-3, and 3 months.
My nursing pillow.
4 copies of my birth plan.
Cell phones, ipad, and chargers will be grabbed as we leave.

I'm not taking a diaper bag or extra clothes for LO for the hospital stay. I plan on using the hospitals stuff while we are there. But I will post what's in mine since you need yours:

About 10 diapers
Trial size pack of wipes
Regular size pack of wipes
First aid kit
Safety/grooming kit
2 receiving blankets
Breast pads
Butt cream
Baby powder and lotion (small bottles)
And two little bottles of baby soap and shampoo because I had no where else to put them. Lol

LO isn't here yet so bottles, pacifiers, toys, books and outfits (once I know how big he is) will come later.

You probably won't need the bibs.

We ended up in the hospital for a while, I had a super long labor. I felt like we had too much crap with us. I was in a high-risk labor room, then the delivery room, then the OR, then a recovery room, and then a private recovery room. Moving the bags around was such a pain in the ass.
DH in an effort to be helpful took stuff home, but always seemed to take the things I needed. I ended up leaving the hospital in January in Canada without my winter coat.
I'd pare down enough that you aren't moving too much stuff around but enough so that you are prepared.

The one thing I regretted was that we bought 0-3 month clothes but LO was so small that he was swimming in it so we wished we bought some "newborn" clothes which we ended up buying the first week of his life.

@anonysquire: You can probably get rid of the diapers and wipes (they provided us with those and sent us home with some). I doubt you'll need a wrap, bib, swaddler or burp cloth (they will provide lots of towels and blankets). I would focus on your stuff (comfy clothes, toiletry items, etc) If you have a favorite pillow you like to sleep with, bring that.
