My older cousin is dealing with terminal cancer. We are not super close because he's so much older, but we see each other at family events once a year or so (I live out out state, otherwise, I'd see him more) and text occassionly to say hello and check in. I want to reach out more and be supportive but I literally have no idea what to say - there seems to only be so many times you can say "thinking of you" without it sounding canned. But on the other hand, we are not nearly close enough that he would be comfortable sharing what he's really feeling/ going through, nor would I have any idea how to tactfully broach that topic, so I'm just kind of at a loss. I'm sad to know that many of you have been through terminal illness with those close to you, but hoping that you'll be able to share your experiences.
