I like to send Wolfermann's: an assortment of English muffins and flavored butters. I include a note expressing my condolences and a hope that they can share a quiet breakfast together, reminiscing.

You could always send them a gift cert to go out to eat at a later date too.

I second wolfermans. People don't usually think of breakfast.

Or take/ship disposable dishes, utensils, cups, etc so they don't have to deal with doing dishes for a while
