Whatever kid flavor is on sale...or whatever character is the coolest in DS's book. I'm just happy he likes to brush his teeth.
In the early years, I used the baby oral b stuff.

It's one with Xylitol ... not sure which one, but she loves brushing her teeth with it and I don't have to be paranoid about her swallowing it.

We don't use toothpaste yet either. I thought they didn't need it until 2 or so. Ours are almost 18 mo and have a full set. They'll go to the dentist soon and I'll ask then.

@MerryC: Our pediatrician said we didn't need to use toothpaste until 2 but I've been thinking about starting at 19 months. I just don't see how bristles alone can clean her almost full set of teeth!

@locavore_mama: @Periwinkle: @MerryC: our pediatrician told us to start brushing her teeth with fluoride free toothpaste at DDs 12 month wellness check. She has 6 teeth!

@locavore_mama: if you use fluoride free with xylitol it can help prevent tooth decay. Xylitol can't be metabolized by cariogenic bacteria so it's an awesome preventative.

@autumnlove: Oh no!! Honestly, I try to floss my 16 month olds teeth, but it's mostly a losing battle. We get props for trying!
