We have normal bathmats at our current place (normal=carpet/shag like).
For our new place I want wood bath mats.
Just ordered something like this, but darker.
Anyone have Teak/Wood mats that they love?

I have a shag one from ikea. The wood one looks cool! Does it not get warped from water?

I like shag because it feels cozy/soft on the feet! And it absorbs the water. The teak/wood looks very cool though!

@anonysquire: This is the description! "The Teak Shower mat provides comfortable, slip-free footing. Lightly coated with mineral oil to provide a beautiful nonslip finish, the durable, solid wood construction will last for years. It also resists fungi for a cleaner shower or bath environment. Teakwood is one of the strongest tropical hardwoods available and provides natural water, mold, mildew and insect resistant properties. "

@chopsuey119: OH wow, that sounds great! I might have to buy one. I am not sure if it goes with our decor but it is very nice looking.

@chopsuey119: love it! ... dumb question, what about the water that leaks through the cracks?

We have hard water and our master bath is not very well ventilated, so we have a lot of mold problems. I got one of these wooden bath mats from Costco to eliminate the problem, and it was good for a bit until I lifted it up for the first time and realized there was slimy green mold growing all underneath it...!! I didn't realize because you can't really see thru the slats. I threw it out (mold stained the wood as well) and now we just use a small towel that we throw in the wash just as often as the towels we use to dry off.

@mrsjyw: HAHA not sure. Let it air dry on the floor?

Ever since I got the memory foam bath mats from Costco, I can't imagine using anything else! We have pretty, decorative ones in our guest bath, but the memory foam feels so good and doesn't soak through!

@mrsjyw: This is exactly what I was thinking.
Love the look of it though. We have stupid shaggy carpet ones, one of which is white and needs to be washed hourly just to keep the stupid thing looking clean.

@mrs. wagon: ugh that's so sick -.-
did it sit directly on the floor or was it on slabs? my goal is to keep this place cleannnn.. i've done a pretty crappy job keeping our place clean so wish me luck!

@chopsuey119: @mrsjyw: It was raised, so there were slabs on both sides. The water that leaked thru would just sit, which is why mold grew. Again, we have bad water and no ventilation (even the toilet in that bathroom grows black mold every few weeks) so it might be better in your bathroom!

@mrs. wagon: Ew! My old place had a total mold problem - we had to keep the fan on constantly or I'd swear, there'd be a new streak of mildew that popped up every week. Yuck.
@chopsuey119: I really like that mat! We had a regular shag rug, but our dogs kept peeing on it (they are peepee pad trained so whenever they see anything on the ground, they think it's a pee pad and they pee on it - sigh) so we had to get rid of it. Maybe I'll try out the wood mats!

I am on the market for a new mat for our bathroom too. I cannot find a thing I like.

I've never seen anything like that before. I love a soft fluffy mat though.
