We live in a small rental with a good-sized fenced in backyard--a must with a very active dog!

Single family "split" style house w/ private fenced in yard!

Freestanding home with a private fenced yard. We lucked out and the yard is pretty big and has a separate rocky space that we've turned into a fire pit area. Another small corner is sectioned off for a garden (haven't used that in two years though). Luckily DH doesn't mind mowing it (usually!). This is just a rental, but I'd want a yard at least this big when we buy!

We're in a pre-war condo. There are 11 buildings in our complex, each with 8 units. We're on the 4th floor of a walk up so we don't have anyone above us and only share one wall with our neighbors (our bedroom). We don't have any yard or green space but there's a huge public playground literally right next door (I can see it from our windows). We wanted to buy in NYC so we never planned on having a yard. I don't want the maintenance of a yard or driveway.

We live in a free-standing house that was converted into 2 apartments - 1 up and 1 down. We're on the first floor. There's a fenced-in yard for both tenants to use, although we have a large covered porch leading onto it.
I love having the fenced-in yard because we have a dog, so I don't have to worry about it when I just let her out.
DH and I aren't responsible for the lawn care. The tenant above us has been living here 10+ years and worked out a deal for rent reduction if she does the lawn care. She hires a guy and pays him less to mow than what her rent reduction is. (Not sure if the landlord knows this, but whatever, we don't have to do it.)
We chose a free-standing house because we could have the dog and neither of us are fans of large complexes. We are definitely sick of apartment living though - we hate having someone above us!

We just moved into a big apartment building with no private yard. BUT, it is 3 blocks away from one of the biggest parks in the city, so I am happy.
We moved from an apartment that was one of 7 in an old house that had been converted. We had a yard there, and we got a rent discount to rake. Before that, we lived in a 2 unit house, and we took care of the yard for no discount (but we did get to plant vegetables!) I love being outside, and I wouldn't mind the yardwork if it were our own yard. However, we ran into one too many issues with landlords regarding maintenance, so I'm glad not to have one anymore!

Single family home with private yard Corner lot, so a bit of a PITA, but a fenced in yard is a must for my dog.

We rent a townhouse, but play outside on the communal lawn all the time!
